Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of April (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

We are an extension of the group DEPPERS....in but not yet- see the link above.

If you haven't been there, go there now....There is a ton of information that you will need and are probably dying for....like Boot Camp videos! :)

So if you have general information that will be helpful for all new Moms, leave it in the DEPPER group, but if you have April ship out, or other, issues, need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in April, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

About a week after they arrive at BC, you will receive a form letter, with their Ship# and DIV # (address) on it. Check it against the ones here: http://www.bootcamp.navy.mil/contact_recruit.asp Then, watch for your PIR (Pass in Review-i,e, Graduation) date to be posted here: http://www1.netc.navy.mil/nstc/rtcgl/upcoming_grads.asp

That IS the official date for your Recruit's Training Group to PIR, HOWEVER things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets. Wait until it's posted to do so, and don't worry, you will still have plenty of time to get your traveling ducks in a row! =) Check here for reviews and info re: hotels, PIR, travel etc: http://www.navyformoms.com/forum/categories/pirpass-in-review/listForCategory

Next stop, Boot Camp Moms Group:http://www.navyformoms.com/group/bootcampmoms
That is where and when permanent Groups for your PIR date and Divisions will, or should, be formed.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

So if you have information that will be helpful for all, leave it in the DEPPER group but if you have issues, information, or just need to talk to someone that is going where you are...This is the place to be.

4 April 2011. I thought I'd get this rolling for the next group coming through. 2011 is a long way away. We're all of us wishing he could get a sooner date. Our son, Nick is very pumped about going into the Navy and being a Nuke. It is difficult thinking about keeping that enthusiasm going for so many months. He's ready for the next stage in his life and we're behind him. Hope to see some more 2011's here soon.

Hello everyone :)...Some of you know me and some dont but HELLO to all anyway :)... I have been an absent creator and I wanted to apologize for that. I began college and wow it is hard! I couldnt manage N4M's and my school work at the same time :(...I want to say thank you to those that stepped up and helped by being here and answering questions. I have now completed my first 8 weeks and I am attempting to add N4M's back in to my schedule so I can update information. If there is someone that is not assistant admin but has been working in that capacity while I have been gone email me and I will promote you. I am not here to take over by no means LOL. I have 12 of these leavin' in groups and I cannot do all that but if something needs to be added or something needs to be fixed or someone has questions I will be here. All you have to do is send me a message and I will work on what ever you need :). I will pop in every now and again to say hello but other than that this is your group :).

Have a great day :)

AirRescueMom- I understand how you feel. I find myself alone most of the time too. I wish we were all closer so that we can be there in person for each other. I have started a scrap book for my son so that is keeping me busy... I have never been real crafty so it is going to be a challenge for me... We are all here for you when you need us...

Sealifedifferently- Not a problem, I am glad that my words make you feel better!!! I just wish they made me feel better all of the time. Had a pretty hard day yesterday. Getting ready to go shopping for new pics for the house and NO ONE wanted to go with me. I was extremely upset and cried like a baby because I know my son would have went with me. I just felt alone??? But I guess I am just going to have to get used to it??? Sucks but that it life. With a lot of begging and promising my daughter went with me but she was not happy to be there :(

Johnsmom- My son has been @ BC for 2 weeks and 1 day now, it does get easier and I never thought that I would be a mom that would say this. We recieved the box/form letter/ and 1 letter since he has been gone :( Neither one of the letters sounded very happy but from what I have been told the first 3 weeks are the worst for them. I held it together @ MEPS until he walked out the door to leave for GL, but pulled it together as soon as we walked out the door to follow him. When we got outside I was still crying, but when I looked over to watch my son get on the bus I started laughing histaricly!!! They had put my son and the rest of the SR's on a short bus!!!! Seriously a short bus??? I could not believe it, it was so funny. I am sure my son was wondering what I was laughing about, but if I know my son he figured it out. This is a trying time for our future sailors but for the rest of the family too. I have my moments, usually when I need to go somewhere and there is no one to go with me, is when it is the worst for me. My son went everywhere with me, I was never alone. WhenI have my moments I remind myself that my Son it taking the wings we gave him and is learning to fly, that to have him here he would never recieve the experiences that he will in the Navy, and trying or wanting to keep him here is just for my own selfish reasons. That is not fair to my son!! I keep myself extremely busy so my mind does not have time to wonder and think about Chris all of the time. I miss my son more than words can say but I k now deep down in my heart this is the best decision he has made!!! For that I can say I am proud.

Johnsmom- well I wasn't as successful as you- I cried saying good-bye at MEPS
He kept saying don't cry mom and I kept saying I'm not! Then coming home it felt like- well he's just going on a trip, that's not so bad. Until I got the "I'm here call" it sounded so final. Then the box. Everything he had on when he left I knew was going to be in that box. I'm waiting now for the 2nd letter. I've read the first one so much I've practically worn it out!
Glad your guy sounded good- it does make it better.
Keep in touch- this has become my lifeline as friends and family don't seem to get my being 'emotional' from time to time. These ladies 'get it' !!

Give yourself time johnsmom, there will be unexpected moments of tears and then just being proud. Prepare yourself for the box in about 3-4 days. I couldn't stop crying all day [ that's when it hit me] and then couldn't open it for a week until I was ready. Everyone handles this in a different way. Some of the 'older' wiser woman on BC moms said "there is no formula to this" and they were right.
Be proud- John is doing an amazing thing here. And he needs your support in this new journey of his.
After the box [ and start writing now] the form letter will come and then you can mail all your letters to him. Depending where you live it could take 4 to 10 days. I know that is a wide margin! Just keep writing.
We are all here to support each other. I was where you are just 3 weeks ago- seems so much longer!
all the best to you.
