Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of February (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

We are an extension of the group DEPPERS....in but not yet- see the link above.

If you haven't been there, go there now....There is a ton of information that you will need and are probably dying for....like Boot Camp videos! :)

So if you have general information that will be helpful for all new Moms, leave it in the DEPPER group, but if you have Feb ship out, or other, issues, need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in February, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

About a week after they arrive at BC, you will receive a form letter, with their Ship# and DIV # (address) on it. Check it against the ones here: http://www.bootcamp.navy.mil/contact_recruit.asp Then, watch for your PIR (Pass in Review-i,e, Graduation) date to be posted here: http://www1.netc.navy.mil/nstc/rtcgl/upcoming_grads.asp

That IS the official date for your Recruit's Training Group to PIR, HOWEVER things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets. Wait until it's posted to do so, and don't worry, you will still have plenty of time to get your traveling ducks in a row! =) Check here for reviews and info re: hotels, PIR, travel etc: http://www.navyformoms.com/forum/categories/pirpass-in-review/listForCategory

Next stop, Boot Camp Moms Group:http://www.navyformoms.com/group/bootcampmoms
That is where and when permanent Groups for your PIR date and Divisions will, or should, be formed.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

Got my first letter from my son :)  It is truly a happy day.  Received 2 envelopes but one had 3 letters in it so really I got 4 letters with different dates.

CF, I removed my previous post since I gave your previous username, which includes your last name.  Check out OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes To Your Profile) and you will want to make change 2 at the bottom and maybe some other changes as well.

Andrea, Sailors can fly out of O'hare or Midway and even Sailors flying to the same "A" School can be on different flights and even fly from different airports depending on flight availability.  Only your Sailor will know his flight details for certain and that will not be determined until the week of PIR.  Most fly out the day after PIR.  See PIR Day and Liberty During PIR Weekend for info that will help you plan your weekend.  There are groups for most of the "A" Schools and ratings.  Here are two of the Pensacola groups, Sailors In Pensacola, FL For A School....Corry Station too!! and Parents of A School Sailors in Pensacola.  What will his rating (job/specialty) be?

Hi, my son is going to A school in Pennsicola...just wondering does anyone know which airport he will fly out of? Trying to figure out our trip to PIR and how much time we will have to spend with him.

Remember that this journey is just as much about you being in training as it is for our recruits.  Things change, schedules change, they can not always tell you everything, there will be times when you do not hear from them for a while, there will be ups and downs and everything in between, they will see people drop, leave the service, rollback and finish their training.  Focus on today and learn not to worry about tomorrow.  Always be encouraging and uplifting even when your heart is breaking, they do not need to be worrying about us and how we are dealing with things.  This journey is a difficult one for the ones at home and not knowing what is going on and hard to grasp when you are still so new to it, relax and breathe and it will get better.

Live your life as normal as possible, come to this site for support but do not stress over phone calls, letters and how they are doing.  Phone calls get missed or not made, it is not the end of the world even though it may feel like it at that moment.  We have wonderful recruits and who are on a new journey in their life and we need to be okay with the not knowing what is going on and not hearing from them as this may happen from time to time during their time in the Navy, the sooner you are okay with this the better for them as they do not need to know that we are stressing or worried about them.

This is the job that they have chosen and some of us have jobs that do not allow us to have phone calls at work, the same holds true for them, they will call when they can and after BC it does get better but there may be times when it gets worse.  We are so used to knowing everything about what they are doing and having instant contact, that it can be hard to break that habit but it will get better, hang in there and before you know it you will be at PIR.

If you are sad, lonely, missing them, angry or many other emotions come here where we know how you feel and we can lift you up.
