Hi There everyone! My grandson Jacob is leaving for boot camp on March 9 from Nebraska. I'm glad to see that he is going to be in such good company! I know my daughter is about to be a basket case, even if she doesn't realize it quite yet. I will try to get her to come here for some support and commiseration. Jacob is her first born, and it just hasn't hit her yet that her boy is leaving home and a young man will return in his place.

 

Jacob will be an IT which was his first choice and his lifelong dream. He is beyond excited, but also a bit nervous. Grandpa and I are bustin' our buttons as Jacob is the apple of our eyes, and he is following in his grandpa's foot steps. We couldn't be prouder or happier for him.

 

Looking forward to getting to know you all...and cheering you on through this adventure. If all goes well, maybe we will get to meet up at PIR! Take care and all the best to you and your fine recruits!

Welcome aboard Jacob's Grandma - glad you joined our little group!!  Please feel free to join in to any discussion on the main page as well!!  We are here to support each other thru this grand journey our loved ones are getting ready to take!  You stated your grandson is following his grandfathers footsteps - was he Navy also?  Give him a hug for me and tell him THANK - YOU  (Regardless of what branch he served in!)  I am so thankful for all the men and women that have served our wonderful country!  My father was Navy - he passed away last January - never knowing his only Grandson would be going in as well.  I look at it as if my father will be his guardian angel on this journey!  gives me a little peace in my heart!!

As time gets closer, I am getting so sad.  My daughters and I were driving yesterday, talking about him leaving, and we were all crying.  I am getting a sense of how hard this will be.  I am excited for the new challenges and adventures my son will get.  I hope his time will be amazing.  My dad was in the Navy, during WWII - on a minesweeper - and loved his time in.

Welcome Cannonpark - glad you joined our group!!  My son also leaves the 2nd!  Just think, 2 wks from now they will be arriving in GL - going thru processing - not knowing what to think!!  I know they say they keep them up for 48 hrs or more with no sleep - but, I have a feeling WE won't be sleeping for a couple of days either!!  :-( 

I am just thankful for this site so I can pass the time and know I am not alone!!  Please feel free to join in to any conversation - or start you own - on the main page or in discussions - (the main page seems to get more conversations then the discussions page).  again Welcome aboard - I'm sure we will be talking a lot!!

ITSN 2BE - FOR SURE FOR SURE!!!  I TALK ABOUT YOU ALL THE TIME TO HIM - SO HE KNOWS YOUR NAME - I WILL E-MAIL YOU A PIC OR 2 AND HIS NAME THEN YOU TOO CAN LOOK FOR HIM!!
