This group is for N4M members that have a loved one leaving for bootcamp in Sept..I will leave the year open so that even future Deppers leaving in the month of Sept of any year can join.Lets share stories, information, concerns, and questions

If you haven't been there, go there now....There is a ton of information that you will need and are probably dying for....like what to send with them to Boot Camp and BC videos! :)
So if you have general information and comments that will be helpful and/or encouraging for ALL new DEP/Future Sailor Moms, then leave it in that main DEPper/Future Sailors Group, but if you have September ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in September, ...then this is the place to be. :-)
Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...

About a week after they arrive at BC, you will receive your "Kid in a Box" (clothing, cell phone etc.) and then a separate official Navy form letter, with their Ship# and DIV # (address) on it. Check it against the ones here: http://www.bootcamp.navy.mil/contact_recruit.asp Actually, www.bootcamp.navy.mil has some great need to know overall info for families! Then, watch for your PIR (Pass in Review-i,e, Graduation) date to be posted here: http://www1.netc.navy.mil/nstc/rtcgl/upcoming_grads.asp
That IS the official date for your Recruit's Training Group to PIR, HOWEVER things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets. Wait until their PIR date is posted to do so, and don't worry, you will still have plenty of time to get your traveling ducks in a row! =) Check here for reviews and info re: hotels, PIR, travel etc: http://www.navyformoms.com/forum/categories/pirpass-in-review/listForCategory
After that form letter arrives, it's time to get plugged into your permanent PIR Groups, as soon as someone takes the initiative to start one for your graduation date! Once you are a member there, someone from your Division can start a discussion in the PIR Group for your specific Division. OR you can start a separate Group for your Div. This is how you find others whose Recruits who are not only graduating on the same day as yours, but also in their division as a shipmate! :) PLEASE do not start Div Discussions here, as this is a DEP Group and you will be moving on into the BC Moms Stage. It gets rather confusing and messy when there are multiple Div Discussions spread out across N4Ms for the same Divs. After your PIR, we will clean up/delete any old non pertinent (Div or other) discussions here to make way for the following year's DEP Moms.

Kquzman21- so you havent even received the form letter, finding out his address and PIR date?? My son left on 9-20 also and we received his form letter last week. His girlfriend received 2 letters today from him and I am praying that my letter is waiting for me when I get home. Good luck to you!!

I got a wonderful phone call from my son today!!! It was so great to hear his voice again. I am so excited that I probaby won't be able to sleep tonight. I know it sounds crazy but just getting to talk to him just absolutely makes my day. I think the rest of my family thinks I am crazy but I know you all understand what I am saying. It just warms my heart when I answer the phone and I hear "Hi Mom!" I hope all of you are getting a call from time to time as well. It certainly makes the time go by much better.

Good morning to all....
Well reservations are officially finalized! As we were trying to figure out the most economical way for us to go with our daughters we realized, we have miles thru United Airlines that we can use to pay for hotel and car rental....sooo that's what we did...rented a car/truck and we are driving from New Jersey...ROAD TRIP!! Best Western (Gurnee, IL) stay for 4 days for 4 people = 40k miles plus $16.00 , truck rental for 5 days = 30k miles....the family attending PIR......PRICELESS!! 37 days and counting … I cant wait!!

Yes, there are some SR's in ratings who will have additional security checks and they have to call to get information for those. It can take up to 3 weeks to receive the form letter, although most receive it within the first 2 weeks.
Some who arrived on 10/01 were in the Thanksgiving and some are in the 11/30/2012 TG. Those in the Thanksgiving TG would have mailed letters faster than others arriving the same date who are in the next TG and those in Division 801 also mailed form letters quickly since 800 divisions get to training faster than those in "regular" divisions.

My Fiance left 9/20 and we haven't received anything just the box which came pretty fast. i keep calling his mother to see if anything came in and nothing. I really want to know what day he graduates! we all miss him soo much. he did call oct 2nd for reference is that normal for him to call and ask? and does it usually take this long to receive a letter?

proudnavymom12, I have not gotten a letter from my son yet and I called his recruiter on Friday and left a message, but, of course, never got a return call. I do not understand how we have received no letter, but moms whose kids left on October 1 have gotten letters. Maybe that means they are in the same division and weren't able to mail their letters as early as others. Let me know when you get your son's letter.

The form letter is WRONG. PIR is Wednesday, 21 November. See http://www.bootcamp.navy.mil/upcoming_grads.asp. Join the group, PIR 11/21/2012 TG 02 – 11 Divisions (009-018 & 902) (clickable link), to connect with others with loved ones training with your SR. Your son's friend is in a Push Division and was one of the last to fill his division, so he is at the RTC less time than others in his division who arrived the week before and than his friend who arrived the same day; this sometimes happens for people who arrive at the beginning of the week. A division was started the week before, but there were not enough recruits to fill it until the following week.
