My son had a choice of CA or VA and he choose VA simply because it was closer to home.  When my son was about 4 we went to the submarine base in Groton Ct, my sister lives in CT, who ever thought back then that he'd actually be in the Navy one day!  Good luck to your son.

he will be in S. Carolina for 18/24 months, then possibly Groton Ct for 12 weeks for welding school and then into the fleet.  we are hoping his choices are all  East Coast Ports - but time will tell.

How are you all holding up with this blizzard?  I stayed in all day today and will probably tomorrow too.  Hopefully we don't lose electricity or it will be real cold!

Hi All--Homecoming was awesome.  Cried when I finally got to give my son a kiss and a hug.  All I could say was I missed you so much.  He came home with a promotion to Petty Officer Third Class, I am still flying over the good news.  He is not home here for Christmas but he will be home in a few weeks for a short time.  He is stationed in Norfolk and that is where the ship came in so that is where he is now, as a matter of fact, he has duty on his ship today.

I hope everyone had a good Christmas and sending wishes for a happy, healthy new year!!!!
