Welcome Steph to Louisiana moms. Also say hello to moms from Baton Rouge, look up where it says discussions to find it and that will say hello mostly to people from that area. Then go to Louisiana moms, and leave say hello under the Louisiana mom's comments. That will be seen by the Louisiana moms in the state.

My son's PIR was way back in March 2008, but we have so many brand new moms, who's kids are just starting to think about the Navy and mom's who have served or who's sailor has been in for years.
Hi Lynn Dear, have you set a date for a get together? I am still travelling between NO and BR. Son is in Japan now and am looking for help to get through our first holiday season of separation. His birthday is this week too. How do you guys do it?
I live in Slidell.
Ok  Camenae, you wanted to know if anyone in New Orleans wants to have a meet and greet.  Lets wait and see who else wants to meet.  Come on New Orleans, I know that you guys are partying today and tomorrow.  But how about after Fat Tuesday?

Hello all;

 I'm a new mom from Chalmette (St. Bernard Parish)...my son left for BC on 11/03/11...

I live in Ponchatoula.

Hello to All..

I live in Marrero, My son received the NROTC scholarship and is a freshman at LSU, cross schooling to Southern University Baton Rouge for his ROTC duties.

Hello jchecstnut. I live in Terrytown right on the parade route. I ookfarward to the weekend parades to video and sent to my Culinary Specialist son in Japan on the USS George Washington. Was ablt to be here for some of Mardi Gras last year. Thought he might just miss it a little bit so thought I'd send Mardi Gras to him.

Welcome to the group, you'll find lots of support and if you have any questions you're bound to fine someone that has had the experience and can helphink a question is silly.. If so I have to be in the lead.

Where will he be going after school? So many decisions they have for our young people it's almost an overload!! But, the sights and experiences will be wonderful!!!

Have a super wonderful weekend, keep in touch.

Leigh

Thank you for responding Leigh,

My son is taking mechanical engineering at LSU, after college he wants to go into aviation.  But like you mention so many decisions, and who knows he may change his major... i'm hoping that he won't.  The experience he recieved the 4 years of NJROTC at Brother Martin had really help him at Southern.  It wasn't as much as an adjustment like some of the others.  My father served in the Navy for 4 years and was a cook..LOL  back then they didn't call them Culinary Specialist...

Good Luck to your son.

Keep in touch

Jen
