Molly's Adopt a Sailor project

As a group, we would like to adopt a group of sailors and send letters and/or packages. I think we N4M could make a big difference in some sailors lives if all of us would just write one letter (you can do more if you want)

Support our Sailors

What is the most critical or best thing I can send?
Your SUPPORT! This is NOT an attempt to resupply the military, or fix every logistical problem. What counts here is the morale of the Sailor. Send a letter or a new Army tank, they both help, but a Sailor that knows he/she has the support of the folks at home will use that tank far better than without the support.
Count on that.

We will continue to do our best to list the items requested by the Sailors.

Again, this is not an effort to get you to spend a bunch of money, it is about you sending support to those who give us the freedom to express our thanks for our freedom.

Will I get a thank you from the Sailor that gets my package?
We hope you do, but we do not guarantee it.

The Sailors are under no obligation to reply. They can't be. We can't burden Sailors are busy doing there jobs. Sure can't have their leadership tell them to reply either. If you get a reply, it is voluntary by that Sailor.

However, if you want to really increase your chances of getting a reply, simply pre-address an envelope to yourself, a few pieces of paper, and maybe a pen and put them in your package. No need for a stamp on the envelope. In your letter to the Sailor which you also put in the box, ask him/her to drop you a quick note or more and ask if there is anything in particular you can send.

Many of the troops are asking that you include your email address in your letters and boxes if you would like a reply or thank you. This is of course far easier for the troops that have Internet access. This is completely voluntary on your part and does not guarantee a reply. But it helps.

Sammie, that is wonderful!! We should have Dad work on photo shopping something were we all can be in a pic together.. like scrap booking... and we could just send in out pic here.. one collage picture for all the sailors to see and something stating to the fact of them all being adopted by the Nay For Moms Molly's Adopt a Sailor Project. I dont know if Dad would be up to that, but maybe with plenty of "pleasee with sugar on top"... what so you all think?

It has been a brutal week at work getting the new store ready for opening. But, I've got all our cards filled out and the box is almost ready to mail. I've got lots of girly hair stuff in there for our 7 female officers, two big bags of bubble gum (I sure hope they're allowed to have gum!) and 8 christmas cards with a calling card in each. But there is still room in the box for more. I'm thinking of putting a bag or two of starbucks coffee in there to fill up the remaining space (can we send that?). Any other ideas?

Okay so I think I get it. We send to the above address the USS Rodney Davis to Chief Smith all the Christmas cards/letters and calling cards we can muster by December 8th! Is that right? I will get on it along with my network of family/friends out here in colorado! Let me know if there is anything else I can do. My son is graduating Boot Camp on 12/5 then off to Pre Buds and not having him home for Thanksgiving was tough (even though he was adopted) I can't imagine not having them home for christmas, I want these sailors to know they are loved! Where is the Davis located, if you are allowed to tell me?

Welcome MalaMama - we also have the threads that we talk in --heck we seem to talk everywhere ! LOL this group is the best , wonderful big hearts. All we are truly looking for is a little mom love to OUR sailors who will not be home for the holidays. If that means calling cards, 250 letters or just one letter it all counts and means so much. I know a ex-navy man who wrote one letter. And that one letter is going to mean so much to that one sailor who gets it :)
So anything in the world you can do is GREAT :) And thank you for joining and supporting with us :) Big Hug to you :)
As for our letters--- I am doing another get together on the 6th to write more letters and I want a picture of all of us and all the letters SO I will be mailing on the 8th !! Yep the very last day ---LOL LOL LOL

Welcome MalaMama! & fellow Coloradan!
Because my sailor will be home for Christmas, I gave my younger son(who's missing his bro terribly) the task of decorating a small 3ft tree just for his brother - a Navy tree. We're going to make ornaments of various "classes" of ships etc & all things Navy. We also have some Star Trek ornaments to represent the ships of the future. Blue & gold will be the colors.
Anybody have any suggestions?-please share...
ps- it's snowing here!!!Real snow!!LOL

Molly, when are you mailing out your cards?
Joslinda Comment by Joslinda on November 30, 2008 at 7:20am
if you look right above the "blue" line here, you will see the address to the ship we are sending chirstmas cards too. The ship has 250 Sailors on it, and we are trying to send out phone cards to them. Now I was unable to send out any phone cards.. but I did make 250 Christmas cards.. It felt Great!!. any amount of phone cards you can afford to send, or just chirstmas cards. if you read through the past blogs, you can see what the other moms have done I have all my cards ready to be mail out on Dec the 1st. The goal it to mail the cards between Dec 1st and the 8th. This way the Sailors are getting the cards at about the same time. I love this group.. and welcome to our group MalaMama.
