i went to BEC (basic engineering common core first and then went to my HT strand and then got orders to san diego where i served on a destroyer cruiser and a carrier then i negotiated my C school on my re-enlistment. HT is a hard job for most but is rewardable when you save the ship money and fix something for the ship to sustain mission readiness.

Maryc3; Has your son Jeff gotten his orders yet? I think he is a few weeks ahead of my son in HT training. Just wondering when to expect the "notice" My son is excited, me not so. Like having him near me, but realize this is what he signed up for. - Lorei

Lots of info and good reading for learning about HT's
My son just passed another test and now says he has 22 (school days) days left in school......

This HT stuff is definitely hard work...but he is pleased.

When he first reported in Va he stayed on the ship..His wife has now moved to Va and he will stay at home till they go back out..His C school will be in Great Lakes..By that time he will have almost 3 yrs in.

James Mom... My son went from PIR to A school in GL from A school he was stationed in Norfolk,Va on the USS Eisenhower...HE has just retured from his first Deployment and won't start C school untill November of 2010,..not all get the same assignments so a lot depends on where they need him.

what command is he in?? i have no idea who he is. i am just on this page not to make friends but to make sure you guys have an HT that is knowledgeable and understanding of the things parents go through when you are in the real NAVY instead of school or boot.

Hi, ShpRdOftrUth is my son. He is stationed in the Great Lakes area for now. He is kind of working close to me till his nxt assignment. I will ask him to response to you but he was mainly stationed out of San Diego.
