Shari, I'll pray for a quick recovery for your son. This flu stuff is awful. I was sick all day yesterday. I'm better today. So we will be celebrating our anniversary tonight. (It was last night.)

He should be charged with TREASON as well and sentenced to death!

I do feel for his family, but am more concerned about the innocent he killed and injured as well as his lack of support for our country.

I know everyone has heard about what happened yesterday afternoon at Ft. Hood. It was a tragedy of great proportion. All the bases and posts here in Texas are requesting their personnel and community members to donate blood for the injured. Indeed the shooter was an Army major who had converted to Islam and was trying to buy his way out of his commission so as not to go to Iraq. He didn't approve of the war in Iraq and did not wish to go. He had received several poor performance reviews of late and just went off the deep end. He is among the injured as is the officer that shot him. He is under armed guard until he recovers and can be moved to the brig. I've heard from friends in the area that they plan to charge him with 13 counts of murder and unnamed other charges possibly including several counts of attempted murder. Please continue to keep these soldiers, families and civilians in your prayers as they deal with the fall out from yesterday's tragedy!!

I know that OCS has several Intel members these last few classes. Maybe those moms will find their way here. My daughter is finishing week 2 of OCS. It has been difficult, but she is pushing through.

Jeano- Check to see if your school has a website online. All schools in our district do and the school district is posting almost daily information to the parents about the flu. Plus a district wide letter and phone calls went out in the last few weeks for us. Also depending on the teacher, emails were being sent to parents. Chris confirmed today that it was only the regular flu shot he got. He was told today he has to get the other one soon because of his age. We are a very small school district with only 8 schools and most of the teachers live here in town. So maybe that is why the communication is so good.

Hi everyone, I have been listening to the news and reading info on the net about Fort Hood. Apparently a Maj. psychiatrist (39 yo) shot & killed 12 and injured 30 others. At first they thought the shooter was dead but we have heard that he is not. I am praying for the families. I can't imagine the shock they are in.

I just wanted to pop in and check in on our ever growing, wonderful group here. Nothing really new to report on my son other than he has signed up for college and will be going in January. He has drill this weekend.

I am going to try and catch up on all the posts I have missed. Hope all is well with everyone's sailor. Sorry Shari, that the flu has hit your house. Keep trying to get my husband to get a flu shot, but he keeps putting it off.

Erin, enjoy your son while he is home and I wish him all the luck at his next duty station.

So tell me....what the heck is going on in Texas?? I wonder if it was one of our service people that "went wacko"?? geeezzzzz My prayers go out to our troops there and hope everyone's loved ones here that might be there are OK.

It has hit my little guy's classroom....and I just found out that the school district is not obligated to inform parents???? He has 10-out in his class alone! If someone came to school with lice...they would immediately write letters to all of us??? WTF??

The flu has hit our home. Every one under the age of 24 in this home is getting it. My one son was told by the doctor today he would be missing the Marine Ball and drill this weekend because of it. It is going through the local colleges and our school district like one of our California wild fires.
