Can anyone tell me if when sailors leave Great Lakes for Dam Neck if they leave right away or are put on hold at all. My daughter's PIR is next week and we haven't heard if she is grad and go or not.

Morning all..last week home for my sailor before heading to England next Monday...today he is NYC visiting the newly commissioned USS New York...very exciting for everyone especially us New Yorkers after 9/11...we will never forget. Bless all our sailors!

Got good news here. My husband has a business trip to Maryland next week and so I get to tag along. We are going early so we can spend the weekend with Chris. Excited to see him. Then Chris gets to come home for Thanksgiving. Not for Christmas but we are happy just to see him when we can.

reikolyn, welcome to the group! Thank your husband for what he's doing for us. I too hope you find this group worthwhile. It's great that so many wives are joining up!

In spite of everything that's going on in the world we had a good weekend. Spent it with family and friends.

There were 3 fatality auto accidents this weekend here in our valley. I hope people will start paying attention. One was alcohol related. We passed by one today just after it happened. A 16 yr old boy was killed. Soooo very sad.

Well, it's been a busy tiring weekend so will get off here for now. It's great being back.

Hi I am new to this group and thought I would introduce myself. My husband is going into Intel. He is currently at OCS and will graduate in December. We do not know when he will be able to start IS school in VA. We have been told the next class is Feb. I hope this is a group that is fitting for me?

OK...what's going on in this world??? Yesterday it was Texas in the headlines with a rampid gunman (still rheeling from that one...so sad) and now today it's Oklahoma in the headlines with a rampid ELEPHANT??? Crazy!!!

Shari--Yes, the schools have a website...and keep us informed about the flu and the fight against it...however, they do not have to actually tell us what classrooms and how many have the flu! But....I woke up today with all the symptoms and am praying that I don't actually get it. I'm not that bad (yet) that I'm down & out! uugghh..please pray I don't get it!!!

Charla - I'm with you on that one! Besides the fact that he murdered 13 of his own commerads! It's just plain sick! There is a case local here where the guy held up a Subway rest. and ended up killing 2-people...and didn't he go & claim PTSD as his defense??? (He had just come back from IRAQ about 6-months before). It's just not right!!

Shari, I'll pray for a quick recovery for your son. This flu stuff is awful. I was sick all day yesterday. I'm better today. So we will be celebrating our anniversary tonight. (It was last night.)

He should be charged with TREASON as well and sentenced to death!

I do feel for his family, but am more concerned about the innocent he killed and injured as well as his lack of support for our country.

I know everyone has heard about what happened yesterday afternoon at Ft. Hood. It was a tragedy of great proportion. All the bases and posts here in Texas are requesting their personnel and community members to donate blood for the injured. Indeed the shooter was an Army major who had converted to Islam and was trying to buy his way out of his commission so as not to go to Iraq. He didn't approve of the war in Iraq and did not wish to go. He had received several poor performance reviews of late and just went off the deep end. He is among the injured as is the officer that shot him. He is under armed guard until he recovers and can be moved to the brig. I've heard from friends in the area that they plan to charge him with 13 counts of murder and unnamed other charges possibly including several counts of attempted murder. Please continue to keep these soldiers, families and civilians in your prayers as they deal with the fall out from yesterday's tragedy!!

I know that OCS has several Intel members these last few classes. Maybe those moms will find their way here. My daughter is finishing week 2 of OCS. It has been difficult, but she is pushing through.
