Kellie, My son just got to PC yesterday. His pre- dive class started with 27. 11 made it to PC. One wife moved to PC a week before the guys were to do the final test at GL and her husband did not make it. Now she is living in PC and he is not. Definately one day at a time is the best answer, but don't give up hope and encourage him all the way. He has a rough road ahead of him and needs the support.

Kellie, one day at a time is about right. Our son graduates the 17th of this month with 13 of the 38-40 that started dive prep with him.

Wow! Ok well thank you for both your comments because I had no idea that, that many people dropped and failed it. I knew it was tough but one day at a time is now in my head and not going to be planning anything any time soon. That is awesome that both your sons are doing the program so well and hopefully Jake can complete the program. One day at a time is now my new motto!

Hi All- hope your brave sailors are doing well. I a going to be in PC next weekend to visit my sailor who is assigned to the Experimental Dive unit for a month. If anyone wants to get together for a meal or coffee, let me know. I love meeting other navy moms.

Kellie, My son's class (which will graduate from dive school in PC on 12/18) started with over 20 after basic and are now at 13. It's really tough, best of luck to your boyfriend.

Hi Kellie
I have a son in the Navy Diver training pipeline. This is difficult training and there are no guarantees that they will complete the training. The standard training time frame is 1st - Recruit training 8 weeks 2nd - Pre-Dive training at GL 7 weeks 3rd - Dive training PCB Fl. 90 training days for 2nd class diver. There normally is time, 1 to 4 weeks, before classing up for next class. There is about 10% drop rate in the recruit training 800 divisions. After recruit training The drop rate from the latest Pre-Diver class at GL was about 50%. With the high drop rates from all of the NAVY SPEC. OPS rates the standard phrase is ONE DAY AT A TIME. The last Pre-Dive class lost several sailors on the last day.

Hi! I am not a mom of a Navy Diver but am a girlfriend. My boyfriend, Jake is in BC right now and after he will be in Panama City for 2 years for Dive school. I was wondering if anyone knew any information about if I came down to stay with him and how long I would be able to stay.

My son loves running into people that he has been to PC with and ones he has been stationed with. It is a small community and it seems they keep in touch.
