LHR - Hmm I wish I could help but I really don't know which places out here are reasonable because we already had all of our furniture before we moved here from Pensacola. I'm sorry. Anything else though just ask!

Kathleen,

Thanks - that might be very helpful. Do you remember the name of the place?

LHR..... There is a used furniture place shortly as you come into Portland.   It's about 10- 15 mins from Corpus.  It's very reasonably priced & if you need it delievered they do that too for a small extra fee.  Hope this helps..

Thanks Maddy - just found out that DS will be in VT-28, but not sure when he will start. Any tips on a good place for him to buy decent but inexpensive furniture? He has the bed covered, but not much else!

@ LHR - My husband and I have been out here in CC since the end of October. Yes there are two training squadrons out here now. My husband is in VT-28.

Sorry, meant to say only primary training squadron. I've since looked around on the internet and discovered that there's another primary one there now: VT-28.

Hi Everyone,

Been following along on the aviation site since our son started API in Pensacola. He's moving to CC later this week to start primary. One of my brothers is a retired P-3 pilot and trained with VT-27. He said it was the only training squadron there when he was going through. Does anyone know if it's still the only one or if there are others in CC now? It would be fun if our son trained with the same squadron, had the same patch etc.

Hi everyone, The Navy is sending a truck to pick my son's furniture and belongings to ship. This is our first experience with a Navy move. He, of course, cannot be here, so I have to pack him all up. He told me that someone will contact me to interview me a few days before the truck comes. Does anyone know, is this interview by phone? Do they have to come an look at what is beong shipped? Can I box things up before the interview? Any advice appreciated!

Leslie - Wow you've got yourself an entire squadron lady! Good for you :) I absolutely loved Annapolis. I think, even though we didn't see each other much, his time spent at the Academy was my favorite part of our little adventure. I agree completely, Corpus does seem a bit on the dirty side AND rundown. I'm hoping our time here will be short lived. The HEB is actually the highlight of every week for me, it's sad. There aren't any wives here I've been searching for two months and the only wives I can track down all live in Kingsville. But I have to maintain a positive attitude, this place is just a pitstop . :)

Kathleen - I really appreciate your positive outlook. I really enjoy hearing from someone that this place isn't as awful as it seems. :) I'll just have to do some more exploring and maybe I'll find a few surprises.
