Hi Carol, so you will start getting phone calls, mainly on saturdays. atleast thats when they let Crystal call home. BC is really a strange time, they have to earn everything, even phone calls. But, write her every day, I know you are already, but Crystal said that some of the girls she was with never got letters from home and would come to her bunk every day at mail call to see what they could hear about the "outside world." It makes a big difference.
It will be over before you know it, and things will be semi normal because they can have their cell phones back in A School.

Here is a thought, if she was unable to arrive on time due to the storms you can bet others were "in the same boat"..I would imagine they will still start as a group..just my thought about it though!

Hi there...my daughter left yesterday from Boston heading for Great Lakes. She got as far as Ohio, and couldn't get into Chicago because of thunderstorms. They put her in a motel in Ohio, and she is so worried about going to bootcamp late....has anyone experienced this? She is supposed to be arriving in Chicago this morning and then has to wait around until later today for a ride to Great Lakes...

Hi All, welcome to our group, Navy Mom's of Daughter's.

Happy Independence Day!!

Dawn,
My daughter (also 19) is not an AO nor on a ship (yet) - she is an IT stationed in Hawaii & has been in the Navy one year this month. I believe there are several mom's in our group w/ daughter's that have been enlisted for several years. And yes, even out of boot camp, we still miss our daughter's. Mine is several thousand miles from home so I can defintely relate.

Hi Dawn, is your sailor already on the Roosevelt? Did you see the pbs special? I couldn't bring myself to watch it...did you watch the video USS Reagan (we may have talked about this before, I do get confused...all this salt air )it is on the main page...I love it! Does your daughter have her own computer on board or do they have computers? I am gearing myself up...one year to go...and then my sailor will deploy...how long has your daughter been in the navy?

Anyone's daughter going out on the Roosevelt? Anyone an AO's mom?? Lot's of bootcamp activity - nothing else for the really mildly seasoned navy mom. We get sad and miss our sailors too especially when they'll be gone for a long time on deployment. Maybe it's just summer time and everyone is out and about. I dunno.......

Hi Patricia, I know how you feel. When my daughter left all I did was sleep hoping it would go by sooner. People I talked to didn't understand what I was going through. then I found this website and the people has helped me so much and just reading the stories they write. Knowing I am not the only one going through this rough time. Welcome.

I am loving this, I just stumbled onto this website, and I am blown away. I have needed this for months now.
