navyboyzrus: I completlely understand the tears and so did your patient. Unprofessional..I think not..shows that you are human  with a caring compassionate heart..which is needed to be a nurse and a NAVY MOM/ military mom.  Bless your heart..I have been where you are. We all have days of tears and then days of joy depending on what our loved one is doing and where they are. Graduating bc is an awesome experience and you better get the tissues rweady for that PIR"Pass-in- Review ceremony..very very emotional. I don't think I have talked with a mom yet that did not cry..everyone cries during that ceremony. It just makes you so proud to see how far you loved one has come and how much they grow up..mine walked differently from that point on and carries his self with a different posturing. That's what the Navy taught him. To walk  and stand tall and proud with dignity and honor of what has been accomplished. It's always about the Mission. The other day I was talking with my son on phone and discussing why he wanted the P3 NFO instead of the Jet NFO. He replied" It's all about the "MIssion" mom..I liked the Mission the P-3 Crew does. That really touched me. I know we all are put on this earth by God for a reason..we each have our on Mission too. WE just have to find out what it is and do it and complete it. That's what this site is all about. We understand cause we Moms have been there ..and we give ongoing support!! Thanks for sharing.

chrissyrrt: Wow the mom of 2 in the military..that is an honor and a burden..I know of one mom on the Naval Aviation site who is a friend of mine and she has 3 Navy pilot sons..One just deployed to Japan yesterday. I don't know sometimes how she keeps up with where all of hers are at..but her husband was a Navy pilot..retired and flew for Delta and retired. She is also a nurse but has not worked for several years. Good luck to your son in A school. My son when he was enlisted was a Yeoman (think Administrative assistant) and his A school was in Meridian, Mississippi. I still remember going there in 2004.

ProudN4M-Jason: Welcome..look forward to your posts..Share share share is the name of the game ..vent when you need to whether it be joy or sadness. We are here to support.

So today I was seeing a regular pt who we have had for some time. He causally ask me about my boys as he always does. He says " So the boys ready to be out of school" I start to answer in the usually way that I answer in regard to my boys, " well, my oldest" then I caught myself and started crying. My poor patient just sat holding my hand. Bless him. I so have never done anything that unprofessional, but I just couldn't stop it.

chrissyrrt: your story is very similar to mine. I do peds but home health. Been a nurse for 24 years. My son will be graduating bc on 7/19/13. He is going to be a MA as well. Would love to hear how your son did in a school and if he has any advise to give. Your son in the USAF what is his job. My dad was in for 23 year I grew up AF. He was a firefighter.

I am a pediatric nurse in a large NYC hospital, I have been a nurse for 10 years and I was a Respiratory Therapist before that, working in the same hospital for the last 17 years. My son is currently finishing up his A school in San Antonio for Master at Arms. Our other son is in the Air Force just a few weeks ahead of his brother. Getting used to them both being gone and worrying has been difficult but we are so very proud.

Welcome all you newbies to N4M!! I am an RN with over 30 years experience that now works from home doing workers comp case management. This hopes to be my last job..a job I will do until I retire.

My DS was prior enlisted 5 years and, got ROTC scholarship, got accepted to flight school after Commissioning as naval Officer in 2011. He will complete flight school in jacksonville and get his NFO wings(Naval Flight Officer, think engineer of the flight and will be on P3's.). He is married , wife of 8 years no children only furry grandchildren have I. ,He will soon have 10 years in Navy in 2014.

I have a varied RN experience from CCU, ER, Med-surg to Home health, Hospice, Long Term Care SNF, Managed care, Case management , Utilization Management, Travel Case Management in (California and Tennessee), and finally Workers Comp, as I am also a CCM-Certified Case Manager.

There are many nurses on here from all areas of practice and we enjoy hearing your stories about your DS (Dear son, Dear dgt.)or DD in the Navy. Share share..and again welcome!

Welcome, ProudN4M=Jason!  I'm Linda an RN on a Medical floor at a hospital in Milwaukee. My son is a Seabee in Gulfport, MS, soon to go out on his second deployment. There is a Wisconsin Navy mom group on here as well, as well as on facebook.

This is my first day on N4M, I can't believe how many people are out there going through what I am.  I work as an RN in a skilled nursing facility for Veterans and their Spouses through the state of WI.  My son Jason is in C school in San Diego, he is a member of Squadron HSM 35 Magicians,  He made sure he is signed up to deploy as soon as he is done with school which scares me, but whats a mama to do when their 23 and make their own choices.  I look forward to chatting with fellow nurses and anyone with a child out on North Island in SanDiego would be great, I don't know a lot about Squadrons.

Hey just found this group. My son left for BC on 7/21/13. I am a Home health RN in NC. I know us nurses look at things different so it would be nice to talk to those of like minds.
