Hello Everyone! Got a call, my son say's things are going ok for him in Iraq "somewhere". it was good to hear his voice....We MISS HIM so much. Just got started on this deployment and it's going to be at least 12 to more than likely 15 months. My goodness! Yeah that's what i said along with a few other things. I worry terribly all the time. But, i know all we can do is take one day at a time and pray for his safe return.....for all of our boy's!!! But, as someone said in a message down below "the Navy was one of the best decision's he ever made for himself". WE ARE SO PROUD!!! will talk back to you guy's again soon.... God Bless

I was really worried about her, and how she would be perceived being a woman stationed aboard a ship...but she surprised me when she said that they are treated very well, and that the men are taught to truly look out for the women because the Navy recognizes the value of having women aboard these ships!!

I really wish I would have had the opportunities that young women have today. Congratulations to all the daughters out there serving our country.

My daughter, Rebecca, is stationed aboard the USS KIDD out of San Diego. She has been in for just over 2 years now, she enlisted when she was 17, went to BC at 18 and will be 21 in March. I miss her like crazy, but I know that this was the best thing she could have ever done, and I am so proud of her!! I wear a Navy Cross in honor of her!! She is a quartermaster and she loves it!!

Hello, just found this group and thought I'd join in! Both my sons joined the Navy in 2003, one has since gotten out. He was a CS(culinary specialist), spent 2 years at NAS Lemoore, CA and 2 onboard the USS John L. Hall, a frigate based out of NS Mayport, FL. My oldest is an AE (aviation electronics) and has been in for 5 1/2 years. Based in Lemoore, CA with the F18 squadrons, currently on the USS Ronald Reagan with his squadron, VFA 25. Both have married while in the Navy and both have had sons. One missed the birth of his son while out, didn't even see a pic until 3 days later, met him for the first time when he was 3 months old. The other left a 5 month old and will return when he's 11 months old. I miss them so much, that never really goes away, but they are men now and the Navy was the best decision they ever made! We're from Washington State.

Hi! My name is Melissa. I am married, have been for 21 yrs. (in Feb). We have 2 children, one daughter 18yrs. old. A senior in high school-and going on to college after. And then there is our son who is in the NAVY!! Has been for a little over 2 1/2yrs. now. Signed up when he was 18, went off to boot camp at 19. Turned 20 on his first deployment last year (Jan 07-Sept 07) on the carrier USS John C. Stennis. Now he is 21 and is on his second deployment in Iraq, Kuwait. (On the ground this time) Yeah, this time is a little different! Little bit scarier!! But, Im glad i found the group N4M'S this time around. Glad to be part of the group.
