I am fairly new to the website. What exactly does PIR Mean? I have seen the term and am not quite sure what it is or what it means.

My daughter had her PIR on Nov 21, 2007 and I have to tell you it still seems like yesterday. I never felt so lost after she left for boot camp. I remember getting "the box" it had her navy sweatshirt in it. I just hugged that shirt and smelled it for what seemed like forever. I put it on the back of my desk chair so it would be next to me. The first letter and then the first phone call. I remember how helpless I felt when I heard how sick she was, she practically had no voice and was sick the whole time in Boot Camp. I just wanted to go up there and take care of her. I just went through all the letters she sent me and marveled at the way she changed in such a short period of time. Now after a year, she is a Petty Officer 3rd Class and loving her job. She has matured so quickly ! Moms, you will get through it and then realize how much of a growing experience it was for you as well. It is true that we too survive Boot Camp!!!
