Hi I just found this group. My son is in A school in San Antonio and will be finished there Oct 16. He also wants to change his drill unit to one that is closer to home and is having trouble. He was also told he should not have signed the contract if he didn't want to drill there- but he signed the contract because they told him they could take care of it in A school. I hope everything gets worked out.

shantielane-gail's mom how did your daughter go about changing her drill station. My daughter is currently in A school for MA and wanted to change her station because it is 3 hours away from home. She just recently found out that there is a drill station a whole lot closer to home. She went to someone on base and they told her she shouldn't sign a contract if she didn't what to dril there. So she tried to explain that she sign up with the recuriter that comes to her school and he didn't tell her that there was a drill station about an 2 hours closer to her. So she ask me what she sould do ?

Sharon, from my daughter's experience with checking in after A school--yes, he will get a schedule of the drill weekends. Depending on his unit, he may get an idea about his 2 week training, but that one may be less clear. My daughter had to change drill location after her first drill weekend, which changed her 2 week training option. Now after this last drill weekend, she found out she will deploy in 2011. She is an MAA. Don't know anything about any 2 week training now, or how long she would be deployed. I'm not sure if having a reserve sailor is less stressful than a sailor on active duty or not.

Darn, got to go to work. I'd rather be on here connecting with everyone! Jackie, love the picture. I'm feelin' it!

Morning everyone. I don't know if I am doing something wrong or what but I am not getting any notifications of activity for n4ms. Is anyone else having issues?

I went to Port Hueneme 2 years ago to visit my son. We had a great time together and they do have the Navy Lodge there, also accomodations at Point Mugu as well. It really helped alot going there and seeing it all from the inside. My son was just there a couple weeks ago again, and then from there to the desert for some war games in preparation for deployment. I wont be able to be there for that, but I am thankful for the time I spent at Port Hueneme. Go there if you can.

My son just got home from A-school and is supposed to report to his unit tomorrow to sign papers and stuff. Will he get a schedule or something that gives him an idea of what weekends he is to report? How far in advance do they find out about their 2 week training?

I have aksed Brynnan does he want us to make the trip out to Port Hueneme. But he said He is telling me that he is going stright into demo and that he wouldn't have anytime with us.He is wanting to get done and get home so he can go deer hunting. But the more I think about it the more I think I will go. I can't amagin him getting off that plane and no one their to welcome him home. Thank you so much.
