Yes Fleet week is here and there will be so many things going on. My son will be home starting tomorrow til Monday. He plans on going into the city and also try to catch a Yankee game. I hope all our sailors who are home in New York go down and have some fun.

Good Afternoon to All,
Well the Fleet is in :), and the weather is beautiful! Just wanted to remind everyone that there will be a Blood drive on the USS Iwo Jima stating tomorrow Friday May 22nd at 8am.It will be on the hanger deck. Hope you all stop by if only to say hello. Remember the blood and blood products collected not only help meet the needs of the military but the New York/New Jersey Metro area.

Hi everyone. I am Brenda. I live in Watertown, which is VERY upstate NY, but I love to drive down to visit my sister-in-law in Long Island whenever I can. My sailors are stationed in San Diego & Pensacola.

Good Morning To All New York City Moms and Dads,
Next Friday May 22nd one of the Fleet Week activities is going to be a Blood Drive on the USS Iwo Jima- she will be at pier 88- the drive is open to the public after 8am. This drive not only helps supply blood to our military but to everyone in the New York- New Jersey Metro area. If you are going to Fleet Week please stop by to lend your suport.

Carol its sounds like he made out well. How nice for all of you that he can come home. I live not far from your Sister and friend. I am only a few blocks from them. Isn't it a small world? Isn't East Meadow a drive for you? I used to travel to Manhasset - NSLIJ hospital every am at 5 to open the unit by 6am. Get used to anything especially for a discount (LOL). I would not miss the ceremony for anything. Watching the videos with the drums beating is so moving. I believe the only leave he gets will be part of Fri. return by 8 and S& S from 8a - 8p. I figure he will want to relax in the hotel room from what I read of other peoples experiences. I booked Navy Lodge but am considering maybe changing to one with a pool and Breakfast. Really not sure what to do. Good thing is the NAVY Lodge is close but then the other hotels are not that much further I think. The most important thing is Grad day to be early. Where did you stay? Did we not have a BEAUTIFUL day today or what? My car showed 82 degrees. Oh and my daughter works in West Hills Animal Hospital on Jericho. She is a Nursing student at Adelphi.

Hello Gloria. Glenn has been in Virginia since July 08. He graduated Corpsmen "A" school in July and then went right over to Virginia. I see him a lot because it is only 6 hours away. Long holiday weekends he will drive home. Sometimes I will fly him home on a Friday and back on Sunday night. My sister lives in Huntington (Elm Street) and a good friend of mine lives on Soundview. Home Goods is such a good store. I took a part time holiday job with them (well Marshalls) and decided to stay there part time (I shop so much there that it is hard to give up the discount!). I work in the one in East Meadow store. Your son will be a sailor soon. Are you going to the ceremony? It is such a nice, moving ceremony. Is he getting leave before he starts "A" school?
