Thanks Carol. Hope to see all N4Ms there! What can we do to designate ourselves?

Cry, whoop and holler. I don't know--let's put our heads together--maybe blue/yellow feather boas. No, really, don't want to stand out too much and don't want to embarras anyone let alone take away from the dignity of the ceremony. It will depend upon the weather, too, like if it is raining or not. Let's just call each other when we get to town and see where everyone is.

Hello, I was told your sailor is also going to New York after Power school graduation, got any insight on apartments in that area. Is he in class 0903? My son also graduates the 31st. Thanks

My son graduated from Power School on July 31 also and just went to NY on Tuesday of last week (8/25). He and two others who will be rooming with him left on Tues., stopped for the night in Virginia and drove the rest on Wed. They found a rental house in Saratoga Springs which is nearby. They have a 3 bedroom, fully furnished house (and EVERYTHING is furnished, didn't have to buy linens or anything) for $1300/month. But when you split it 3 ways, it's reasonable. They do get a pretty good allowance for housing so it worked out well for them. He just called a few minutes ago and is really liking it up there. He sounded so excited to finally be there and is enjoying the 2 weeks leave to be able to explore the area and get to know it.

Hello Navy moms. my son also graduates power school on the 31st, class 0903 at 9:00am. Looking forward to attending his graduation. My son will be transferring to New York to start his Proto type training in August after a few weeks off. Anyone else's sailor going to New York? We'll pray the weather will be nice and cool with a slight breeze!!!! lol

My son said he has an appointment tomorrow or Tuesday with the group that assists with housing arrangements. They have already been told NOT to sign any contracts for an apartment or house sight unseen. I am planning to go with my son to NY while he is on leave.

wow thats alot of sites to visit, no wonder my son asked me to just check out a few to see what I thought, with all the study time and tests now, I'm sure it's hard for them to really focus on housing. Thanks for the info, give me something to check out. I did find out that during their time there snow starts in Oct. and pretty much last until April/May, so hopefully they will take in to account that they don't want to worry about driveways to shovel!!

A lot of these came from moms posting in the last several months. I can't seem to find it now, but one mom warned against renting from one particular person. Wish I could find it, but it is buried in all the posts and I don't remember how far back to look. I thought my son was going to be doing Prototype at GC so didn't pay too much attention. I should know better than to think things will be a certain way until orders are in hand. Oh well, live and learn.

My son and his buddies had a place in mind when they went, but waited to see it in person before agreeing to anything. They have a really nice house.
