Let me readdress my question. Sorry! I wanted to know if anyone knew the passing percentage rate of enlisted men currently in the nuke program, not the score you needed on the ASVAB. Just purely out of curiosity...my brother is a retired master chief, and he said only 50% of the guys make it through nuke school, whereas the recruiter told my son 90-95% make it.

Bea, midwestisn't so bad. we do have sushi! not familiar with that brand of beer though. My kids might be :) We've all had our fair share of tears and pity party's so certainly don't feel you are alne!
Cameowlot, dates definitely can change. That is one thing you will learn. Nothing is for sure. Someone commented about Navy time and I have found that oh so true. I can say my Navy son has become very flexible in the last 9 months since becoming a sailor!

Boot camp mom's and this site has gotten me through many a hard day. And was my lifelinefor the first months he was in BC and then at GC. Don't think I would have survived emotionally without all of the MOM friends!

Lorraine - don't buy a ticket just yet. My son graduated from A school on the 31st of July and won't get to come home until the 4th of September. Have him talk to his Petty Officer to conform the dates, as they may put them on t-track until the next Power School starts. Good luck!

Thanks! I called this morning to ask about the dates he MAY have to go back down as we have a memorial service to attend next week and did not want dates to conflict. So far, they have not heard anything about the tests yet today. I am very thankful for this site. I stumbled upon it by accident looking for info on the Navy when my son told me he was going to enlist. What a blessing. I could not imagine going it alone!

My son told me that he will be graduating from A School on October 9th and will be able to come home from Oct 9th after graduation to Oct 19th. Does anyone know if these dates can change? I wanted to surprise him and get him plane tickets so he can fly instead of drive home. Thank you!

Hi Cameowlot,
My son took the testing 4 years ago, and at that time it took almost a week before he found out he was eligible for NUKE school. He is now an E-5, and just reenlisted. I just wish I had known about this site when he was in the DEP program...I had so many questions and NO answers. Enjoy, and I hope the results come in soon for you!

Thanks nucmon for the info, I guess my son will take me downtown. I have never been in that area, I can't wait.

Its been a long time since Alex too the test to get into the Nuke program (2005) but back then it was 92%. I think it changes depending on the needs of the Navy. He also said he thinks the test changed after he took it. Right now he is an ET2.

Does anyone know the passing percentage rate for the Nuke program? I've heard anywhere from 50%-95%. Just curious...my son will be going in 04/05/10 but his friend just got sent home after his first six months of nuke school.
