Stacy-I am so happy for you both---it's been a long journey and you both deserve that pizza:-) Have a wonderful "homecoming!"

HES HOME!!!!! :D Actually has been home for 5 hours and now hes napping. The homecoming was AWESOME!! My kids had no idea and when he opened the front door, Roman and Rosalynn ran to him and just grabbed on to him, which brought him down on his knees. They were holding him so tight. Isabella was shocked and only took her like 4 minutes then she was all about daddy. My son is so sweet he was crying while holding his daddy. Which made me tear up, but being mom I held it in. Did not want Isabella to freak if she say me cry. Hes flight was good and tonight we are having good old Italian Pizza. WOW he is so skinny. I cant believe how much weight he has lost. After 02 rests I would love to hear more about Graduation and see photos of everyone!!!!!!!!!!! Hope everyone got home safely!!! Jeff's home - Im so excited!!!! Thank you all for getting pictures for me and all the good thoughts. It means so much to me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D

Good luck to the rest of the classes and its your turn 03 enjoy it!!!!!!

I am thinking Jeff should be in Italy now, what an exciting homecoming for Stacy and the children!

Thanks Leslie for sharing Brian's feelings, it is great to hear. As I have told you, one of Andrew's best mentors is a former Navy/Delta pilot.

I thought the same thing when Donna mentioned a Salmon Dog...........you are quite adventurous!

Leanne, sounds like you have had a very exciting week of work! The Naval Academy is a beautiful place and I am sure watching the formation was emotional. Hope Sam is doing well.

Everyone, I hope you get your phone calls this Sunday, Good luck to everyone this coming week.

GO NAVY!!!

Terri, I forgot earlier to answer one of your questions, yes 09 has a big group getting together tonight at the Red Parrot (I think that is it!).

Looks like the weather in Newport is a beautiful fall weekend.

I have to tell you Leanne after reading what you said about being with your son when you saw the formation at the Naval Academy--I know exactly how you feel. It may sound stupid but every high school football game I cry when the Navy ROTC is on the field playing the National Anthem. It's as though my son is the one on the field and I feel closer to him. I haven't heard much from him lately and it's taking it's toll on me.
Tarheelmom-My daughter wanted to go to Applac. State so badly-she ended up at UGA with my son but had the out of state fees not been so expensive she'd had been there--it's abosolutley beautiful this time of year. Both of my kids were born in North Carolina on Ft. Bragg and I still feel an attachment to that state.

Leslie, thanks so much for writing about Brian's realizing some of the reasons behind all the crazy training. It's hard to see that when you're in the middle of it, but it's good to hear he sees the bigger picture now. I think that's such an encouragement to all those still there and those heading to Newport this weekend! It's very cool Brian could talk with his dad and some of his friends. What a great connection to family and Naval Aviation past.

I was at the Naval Academy Monday and watched as the mids did their noontime formation and marched to the sound of drums and bagpipes. Just about brought me to tears. Somehow it was special being there while my son is at OCS. I can't explain it but it just seemed a real connection with that tradition Navy is known for.

Brian was saying that every day that he is further away from the OCS experience , he is realizing more and more about WHY they went thru what they did. Some of the things that seemed so petty and rediculous, are making more sense to him. Everything was done for a reason, everything.( Although, he can't wait to get with Greg and Tory and have a beer and laugh his head off at some of the stupid things they had to go thru. ) We had dinner with my parents last night and they could see a definite change in him. The old Brian would be out every night til all hours with his friends, the new Brian hasn't left the house except to work out. No interest in all that anymore. This whole experience has had a profoundly positive effect on him. He had lunch with my husband and 2 of his best friends. all mid 60s , all Naval Aviators, all retired Delta airline pilots. Brian loved it and said he wants to be just like them. This has all been so good for my husband too., and their relationship. We've always worried "a little bit more" about Brian. He's still a slob and leaves every light on in the house, lol, But I'm going to hate to see him go on Sunday.

Navy - Notre Dame today !!!. I think Navy's in for a ruff time but we're going to a tailgate party and will have fun anyway. Thinking of you, Sue. Hang in there. This is his dream .

Judy -- Welcome and " you're welcome." Good luck to your daughter in 10-10.

Donna - A salmon hotdog? haha! What were you thinking? Glad you're having a great time in Newport.

Stac-- I still remember the first time the tooth fairy came to our house. Glad she did well and glad your kids are getting their daddy back. !! I also remember every time my husband would come home from a trip and how the kids reacted. Great memories.

Safe travels to everyone this weekend. Rory is traveling to University of South Carolina with other mids to "experience that scene" as he put it to me yesterday. Please God , let them get there and back safely.

When I first woke up I read all the new notes and had to walk away because I couldn't see through the tears. Thank you all for thinking of 09 and putting them in your prayers. If anyone knows what is going to happen you sure do!!!

Navyprincess - how wonderful you heard from your fiance! After I read your message one of the thoughts that came to my mind is to bottle this young love! I might be the only one to think this but even after many years of marriage and you are still in love with your spouse, there is nothing like that young love! We will continue to pray for his safe journeys on this deployment.

Gotta go, talk to you all after the airport journey. Thanks again and safe travels for people heading to and leaving Newport.

Victoria Comment by Victoria on November 7, 2009 at 12:45am
Hello everyone!! Just got back from flying and have a lot of catching up to do! First of all----WoooHooo 02!!! Congratulations. I am so proud of all of them. Way to go Chad on the award. Of course my buttons are popping a little more than usual because he is part of the Intelligence family that Emily belongs to as well. My bets would have definitely been on Chad from the start! Stacy, so excited your hubby is headed home. So sorry it wasn't in the stars for me to meet him, but it is not over till the fat lady sings and I'm not even humming yet. Our paths will cross one day. Be on the lookout for me. I have a double lurking around Newport right now but rumor has it she is anorexic. I've heard she has the body of a stick!!! Poor Matthew! I told Donna several times that he must be mortified at the high jinx of his mother and girlfriend. They pulled the whole family into the adventure. I even have a picture sent from lunch the other day and one of the Grandmas is holding my head on a stick!!! That family is fun!! No wonder Matthew got in trouble for smiling the other day. Tiffant--As soon as I talk to Emily I will ask her about Garrett. I'll let you know if I find out anything. Prayers for all of 09, especially Andrew. Your in my thoughts daily Sue.

Emily is crazy busy. She was so mad that she couldn't go to 02's graduation. I don't know what she had to deal with other than what she called a "medical emergency." Though I know she is truly happy for 02, I do know that it was difficult in many respects for her. My contact with her has been so very limited because she is so busy. I haven't even talked to her on the phone for days, just a few quick emails...maybe. Today, she sent me a picture email. It was of the bridge leaving Newport with the text, "Closer to freedom." We are almost there 03!!
