Thank you to each and every N4M who has rallied around Todd and I during this huge bump in the road. Your letters paid off and his appeal now has the attention of 2 senators and 2 members of congress. Thank you, Thank you.

We are a long way from winning the appeal so if you think of Todd please send up a prayer on his behalf. I will keep you posted on the outcome.

We got a call today from our son - on day 8 of bc! He needed us to fax up some info on former addresses, etc that is likely necessary for his security clearance as a CTN. He sounded just fine! I'm feeling better everyday.

Missed my hubby's box....I will just have to wait another day! :(

Darna, I agree with Kendrasue! Ship and Div #'s are usually available 48-72 hours after shipping, tops! Some of us even had info in less than 48 hours.

Hi Darna - that doesn't sound right, all the other recruits' info has been given to the moms, so someone is posting something - if you can wait one more day call him tomorrow, but then ask him why all the other recruits' info is avail except yours!

Hi Christie, I think that's great news, we know that recruiters don't always have all the info, but at least what you've found out so far is positive. They will do everything they can to keep Todd, and as Carole says, worst case he might have to start over (but we're all praying that's not the case). {hugs}

Christie, When Ross was going thru his ordeal, we were told that although he was going to be discharged, he could reapply and begin the process over again. Problem was with Ross's low asvab score, and the fact that they raised the minimum score, he would likely not get back in anytime soon. Well, IF Todd was discharged now (praying hard that this is not the case), with his scores being so high, he should have no problem getting medical treatment and clearing and reapplying. Yes, he would perhaps have to do the dep thing over again, but wouldn't that be better than not in at all? Also, seems to me that if this happened before he went in I could see them easily discharging him, but not now that he's already been there almost 4 weeks already! They've invested so much in him already, I can't honestly see them letting him go now! Believe me I'm still fervently praying that this whole thing just go away and he can continue on as normal, but seems to me the worst case scenario may be starting over. That's probably not much comfort and I'm sorry. Just trying to ease your anxiety with any piece of advice I can offer. PLEASE keep me posted!!

Here's a small teeny scrap of news. My husband stopped into the recruiters office this morning and spoke with Todd's recruiter. He had never heard of anyone being discharged on an allergic reaction issue. Having said that of course the recruiter does not know about every medical discharge, the Navy is full and may not be willing to deal with bumps in the road as they might have in past days. The plus is that Todd is a Nuke, had awesome asvab scores and that should bring back a second look if need be. This could keep him off of Subs, but there are worse things that could happen. Also should they give him a medical discharge there is a 2 week appeal process. The recruiter didn't say he could do anything at all, but was nice to speak with my husband and said they would do a little asking around.

The head recruiter in the office is a former RDC so maybe he has some insight to give us. So really I have nothing much new to report that is concrete, but it made me feel slightly better.

Christie-there is a Moms group for sons that are discharged for medical reasons with lots of great info: Ship 5 Moms(Formerly Ship 17)
Hopefully things will work out & Todd will be able to PIR 12/4. If not you can start looking for anwers. It makes me feel better to be able to do something!
Darna Comment by Darna on November 3, 2009 at 12:21pm
I called and spoke to the recruiter. No news, he said that it is not posted yet and of course he asked me to wait a couple of days. Sure! easier said than done.
