Well hello eveyone its been awhile since I've been here. Has some of you know who are on my personal friend list I had a death in the family. My mother pass away this pass friday Nov. 20th. She lived in Puerto Rico. I just got back yesterday. It was not easy for us. My brother and didn't get a chance to say goodbye to her. It was a masive heart attack. The one who had it worst was our sister who found her. Its not easy especially around the hoildays. My son was able to get leave from his command so he arrived also yesterday to be with me. I am so greatful to them for letting him come home for this. I surely needed my son here with me it helps a whole lot. To all of you who send your thoughts and prayers thankyou. Thankyou for being my extended family

Sorry Jean, I don't know about a site specific to sailors. Xerox has done this for a number of years for the troops at large.

Single Sailors - Thanksgiving Lunch: On Nov. 26, come for a Thanksgiving feast at Liberty in Paradise, Instant Liberty and Liberty Express. Food will be served at 11:30 a.m. The event is free and open to all single sailors. For more details, call 473-4279.

Thanksgiving at Rainbow Bay Marina: On Nov. 26, all rental patrons can enjoy free cake and punch from noon to 2 p.m. For more details, call 473-0279.

Turkey Day at Scott Pool: On Nov. 26, come to Scott Pool and spend the afternoon having fun from noon to 4 p.m. For more information, call 473-0394.

Navy-Marine Golf Course & Barbers Point Golf Course - Thanksgiving Schedule: The golf courses will have special hours of operation on Nov. 26. Single Tees are 7:15 a.m. to 1 p.m. No 9-hole play. Pro Shop closes at 5 p.m. and range closes at 12:30 p.m. For additional information, call 471-0142 (Navy-Marine) or 682-1911 (Barbers Point).

I don't think you can specify what branch of the military it is. There are sailors serving overseas also. It looks like all of the cards were drawn by kids. I could not find a perfect card but there were several that I liked.

It does get easier when you know that he made the right decision for him and his family. But there will be tears each time you see him. It is very normal to be upset when he leaves. Just remember to turn to your friends at N4M for support and comfort. I did not find N4M until my son had been in Pearl Harbor for over a year. I went through Boot Camp and everything else alone. This site is a tremendous help for those times.

We just left our son-in-law at the airport for the first time, on his way to Pearl. I guess it won't get easier, will it... He and my daughter have never been apart for more than a week since they met. I hope they get an apartment soon, so she can join him. It's going to be a tough month or so!

I understand your feelings Lily. It is always hard to say goodbye, especially when you know it will be a while before you see them again. After the initial sadness I try to focus on the fact that he is happy where he is and the fantastic man he has become. It helps me to feel better about it. I hope you can reach that point soon.

Another sad day for me today....... my son left to go back to HI after a 14 day trip home. I just left him at the airport. These "goodbyes" are tough each time.

Hi Everyone. My son will be headed to Hawaii on Jan. 4th. He will be on the USS La Jolla. Would love to hear from other Moms with sons on the USS La Jolla.

My son-in-law of only two weeks is leaving for Pearl Harbor on Saturday morning, and my daughter is hoping to follow in a few weeks, at the end of the semester. He'll be on the Chicago. Does anyone have any idea how long it might take for their things to arrive or for them to be assigned to an apartment? He's heard five weeks, but that sounds overly optimistic to ship an apartment's worth of things from the east coast!
