Good Morning - I know it's been a while but I like to read the PIR experiences and see how everyone is doing. Glad you all are still connecting on here.

As far as OPSEC and the N4M's Community Guidelines...they still stand. They always will.  In boot we advise about linking up with your recruit because the RDC's read these posts...it is a building block for the future of the Sailor and his family. A lot of the "focus" is on BC and this...but it is meant to be carried on for the duration of your Sailors career and is a very serious matter. You can jeopardize your safety and your Sailors by breaking OPSEC. Not to mention that I am sure there are punishments for it. Posting email addresses is better done privately. You may post the month of movement (ships or people) but not specific dates. You may post the ship they are on but not where it is going specifically...such as city and dates. When deployed you may post the country but not exact locations, units, camps...when in doubt less is better. General statements not specifics. I know they are in "A" school but again these are building blocks to lay the foundation for when they are out in fleet. When my husband was deployed he could not tell me the specific date he was coming home (emailed it in code to me), I could only tell people "sometime in July".

Please review the Community Guidelines again and OPSEC.

I am not trying to be a pill...these are very important...just trying to look out for your Sailors and you.

Thank you,

FTLW

I am reposting from a FB Page for all my alumni mom's - This says it all...... I wish I know who wrote it -  Miss ya's wishing you a Blessed Thanksgiving <3

Kleenex Alert ******

I am a sailors mother; I sometimes march alone.
And yet I stand with many, trying to be strong.
You may not recognize me as you pass me on the street;
I may look like any other that you by chance might meet.
Like any mother, in a lot of ways I still remain,
... ... But watching my son become a sailor brought a forever change.

For deep down inside where you cannot see
My own battle rages that’s as real as it can be.
It starts with feeling pride in all he has become,
But often worry creeps in before the day is done.
Then there is his absence that never will seem right -
The days without a word that causes many sleepless nights.

And at the sight of another sailor, my heart skips a beat,
For it reminds me of my own, and that face I’d love to see.
And I have a deeper sense of the sacrifices our heroes make;
I can see the hardships on the families – the loneliness, the heartache.
But in spite of all that’s raging, this mother’s love holds strong
As I’m wrapped in God’s peace and comfort and given strength to go on.

Baseball mom...mine is in San Antonio also.  He's been working out a lot and studying.  He went downtown once but says the cabs are too expensive so he doens't plan to do that much.

Navmomtera...glad your son likes Charleston.  We are about 4 hours away and the weather has been very mild here so far.  It was in the 70s today.

Good morning all!!  So glad to hear that everyone is doing well.  Much like you I anm so glad to be able to talk to my son more.  He has made some friends in Goose Creek while waiting for classes to start.  Briefing starting this week and I don't know if classes will start next Monday or wait until after the Thansgiving break.  He'll be spending Thanksgiving on base.  One of the guys he has become friends with is married and lives on base and they have invited a couple of the guys to their house for dinner.  He is supposed to be able to come home for Christmas but I am not getting my hopes up until he get a definitely word once he classes up.  Hope you all have a wonderful and blessed Thanksgiving!

Hello everyone, so glad to hear everyone is doing well. My son is in Texas awaiting classes to start. The time has changed a couple of times because they want the reserves to do there classes first. He likes San Antonio where he will go to corpsman school. If anyone comes to the Kansas City area you should let me know. Is it ok to  put our email addresses on this yet?

Comment by jacketfan24 (corpsman mom) on November 14, 2011 at 6:01pm

Glad to be able to catch up a little.  It is really nice to be able to talk and text now, and he's still waiting to 'class up.'  Looking like early December.  Hope everyone has a wonderful holiday season!
