Hello fellow navy moms. My son was in ship 09 /div 023. It's almost a year and seven months when my son joined the navy. So far, he really like it. But he worked long hours on the ship but no complain or anything.
Good to see you all here again. Keep in touch!!! Oh and happy Mother's Day to all of us

So hard to believe it has almost a year.  My son  went to A school in GL.  He finished OS A school in February and in March he went to Norfolk VA.  On March 26 he was deployed on the USS Iwo Jima.  This has been a long 8 months, but he is coming home.  He will be arriving back in VA the week after Thanksgiving, so I am flying to Norfolk to welcome him home along with all the other sailors and marines that were deployed with him.

October 25. A date I will never forget. Our son arrived at bootcamp that day. He is doing well and stationed in Norfolk. He is temporarily stationed in Pascagoula, MS as his ship is almost finished being built there. He is assigned to one of the 9/11 ships (there are 3). He loves the Navy and it is a good fit for him. He is a 3rd class petty officer. It has been a long and interesting ride for us as parents. We have visited him in Great Lakes during A school and we have visited him in Pascagoula, MS. We rode our motorcycle to MS from MI and had a wonderful 10 days. I hope all of you are doing well and your sailors too!

Wow almost a year has gone by. I still miss my son very much but he loves the Navy and is soooooo happy. He became good friends with another Sailor from Div 024. They are both ATI (aviation technician). They went thru A school together, currently in C school together and both have orders to go to Japan after graduation to serve aboard the USS George Washington. My son is so excited about going oversees and even though I'll probably be a mess I'm so proud of him and so glad he loves what he's doing.
Looking forward to hearing all your stories and I hope your Sailors are all doing well.

Hello Everyone.  Wow, I haven't been on here in a long time!  Doesn't seem like it's been that long since PIR 12/29 but it's been almost half a year. Time really flies. My youngest son just left yesterday for Army Basic Training. Which is what brings me here this evening. Does anyone know of a site similar to this one for Army moms? Thanks, hope all is well.

Yes she got her orders this Monday...We are very excited she will be in San Diego which is about and hour & 1/2 away from home. My parents live very close to the base, so she will be close to her grandparents which is nice because she is very close with them...Does your son know my daughter?

Comment by My son (ship 09, Div 023) on March 14, 2012 at 10:23am

@natalie'smom-my son is in the same EN class as your daughter. Did she get her orders?

Comment by natalie'smom on February 24, 2012 at 12:19pm

@ natatlie'smom-our son will graduate from BECC next Monday I think...then the EN strand class. Maybe our kids will be in that one together?? Our son's BECC class doesn't have any women in it. Did your daughter get her orders? Our son is going to the USS Arlington 24 LPD. It will be based in Norfolk. Our son really wanted to be based in Washington State however...his Dad and Grandpa were both based in Norfolk. What will be...will be!
