Navy For Moms

I've been checking out hotel possibilities for 2 days now. I've looked at all the places that have been suggested on this site and made a decision. I'm going to make a reservation at the Residence Inn/Waukegan (847) 689-9240. They are not the absolute cheapest ($99 navy grad rate), but have some things that make it worth it. They have a hot breakfast buffet every morning and M-Th they have a lite dinner/social for all registered guests. They have a contract with American Taxi which will shuttle you from O'Hare to the hotel for about $55, just pick up the courtesty phone for American Taxi at the airport. They also have a contract with a shuttle service to RTC for $3/person each way. This avoids the waiting in line the morning of PIR. If you want to go downtown, they will also take you to the train station and you can catch the train into Chicago. I know we haven't received the official "grad packs" yet, but I'm trying to be proactive here LOL.

Wow thanks Joyia: I will not get a packet since my son got married before he went to BC but I will pass along the great info, to my daughter in law. Sheila

I'm glad i stubbled on to y'all. My son Jacob's PIR is on that date too and i've been trying to get info but Jacob's recruiter told me just to wait for my grad pack. I'm not waiting very well. To top it off...with the 4 visitor limit, i have to tell my 2 younger sons that they can't go. Thanks for the info. :-)

Anyone else have hotel reservations made? I am still trying to decide what the best option is for me. It looks like I will be traveling alone. I will only rent a car if the weather is good, otherwise I need to find someplace that is not too expensive to get to/from the airport and to/from the base.

I was considering the Marriott in Lincolnshire, but since it looks like it is about 12 miles from the base, it will probably be expensive for the taxis.

I am anxious to hear where others are staying. The hotels near the base seem to have horrible reviews.

We have made our reservations at the Days Inn Libertyville...Theya lso have the cont. breakfast, i believe a shuttle (check to make sure) and a navy special rate. They are only a short distance from the base and from the info i found says it has been recently renovated. Guess we will see lol Their number is 1-800-362-8000.

Jinjer, Disregard referral to Days Inn lol. I wondered why everyone was being so quite about it...no one has said we are staying there too...went to several sites and checked reviews and we decided to change our reservations lol..Sorry for the bad info...we changed to the Quality Inn in Waukegan. prices are comparible but the reviews and pics are better. It is so hard to do this on the net lol. The Quality Inn has a navy rate too.

HI I am going for Christmas and will be staying at the Courtyard marriot in Waukegan at 89.00 a night with AAA discount, (I think haha) But for graduation I made reservations at the Navy Lodge for 65.00 a night. it is only 1 mile off base, I've read that it is very clean and the staff supper friendly and helpful, it is not listed as a deluxe luxiorious hotel, but I am ok with that I am more concerned with clean and helpful staff. The rates can not be beat!

Okay I am now booked at the Navy Lodge for Jan 1-3. I will probably use the shuttle to get there from the hotel.

Does anyone know how far it is from the Navy Lodge to Flanigans?

Joyia-
Thank you for researching and posting the hotel and shuttle info.
After reading it and calling the Residence Inn in Waukegan to confirm all the info was current and correct (they no longer contract w/American Taxi - they use Yellow Metro Taxi 847.662.8294) I booked our room. I wonder why they are not on the booklet provided by GL. Make sure you ask for the 'Navy rate' Again, thank you and enjoy PIR with your recruit next week!
