Navy For Moms

Hi Everyone: Congratulations to all the sailors who graduated. The ceremony was spectacular. I never saw so much pride in a group of people as all the family members that witnessed their sons/daughters graduate. I cried as soon as they opened the huge garage door and they marched in. Binoculars helped. 807 is off to PreBUDS on Wednesday. A few more weeks and we should have more frequent phone calls. I was so happy to see my son become a man in 8 weeks. He had the foundation and he is even more amazing. His sister asked what he did for fun during boot camp and he said they had free time to write letters and did their ironing. She couldn't believe what she was hearing. That was fun?!?she said. He meant it.I watched him take his dress shoes off in the hotel and place them on a chair. I thought, oh that's typical, just throw your shoes anywhere, but as he continued to talk to me I realized that he was tying the shoe laces ever so carefully and then he took the shoes into the bedroom and put them on the top shelf of the closet. I took a picture of it. WOW! His coat was hung perfectly, also. I look forward to watching our sailors progress through their schools. Everyone of them are committed. Thanks Navy for what you are offering our sons and daughters.

I agree with this. My son was worried about scuffing his shoes up. That is a first. Usually they just go thrown wherever. It is amazing what I have been trying to do for almost 19 years the Navy did in 8 weeks. Oh well at least it finally happened. I am waiting to hear from my son about A-school. He starts on Jan 12, hospital corpsman so he is staying right in GL. Congratulations to the families and the New Sailors. We have a great bunch of young men and women.

Good Day, has anyone heard from the guys in Corpman school. I was hoping to hear from Jason to say he was going to come home for a few days. I guess this isn't going to happen. I just spent 4 hours cleaning out his room and that wasn't thowing out everything I would have liked. I boxed alot of his high school stuff up. It was weird though I found a letter that he had under his bed and it was more like 4 folded pieces of paper that he jotted down how he felt about himself. It kinda of bothered me. He wanted to have a girlfriend like all his other friends, he said, someone to eat popcorn with or hold their hand and just talk about his day with. He said, he felt guilty for all the bad things he did as a kid and hopes he has a better life ahead of him. He was afraid to go into the NAVY because he thought he would fail or he would be alone. ETC>ETC> Anyways it made me cry all over again. I really hope he is happy he definately seemed to be. I know he was home sick at first and now he seems ok. I am hoping he is not having difficulties since we left. I miss him terribly. And I know he will get a girl when the time is right. He needs to focus on what he is doing now. LOL The pictures that Tracy posted were nice. Thanks Tracy for sharing . My camera malfunctioned like most folks did. Maybe the NAVY wants that to happen. It sure is weird that it happen to sooo many of us. LOL I hope for a phone call tonight or tomorrow. Let me know if you all hear anything from our new Sailors that went to A school in GL, Corpman. Take Care.

I was so proud of every one of those young men and women. What a day! And you are all correct...the transformation thats occurring is amazing! PIR was the proudest moment of my life...well maybe second to the birth! lol. She is soooo proud of herself and the confidence is amazing! My sister and I along with her used to love to cut it up in public and get crazy and laugh....she had fun, but would not do anything that might reflect badly on the Navy while we were in public. Very conscious of representing herself and the Navy properly. It was really nice to see. Her patience level is thru the roof too! We used to say she had the temper of a warthog and patience of a gnat. Not anymore!!!

She told us lots of stories and things that happened over the eight weeks and really enjoyed everything she learned. She said something that I thought was really funny..."Its the most fun I've ever had that I never want to do again". She is on hold in THU until next Saturday when she ships out to P-cola for A school. She's really excited to get out of the "frozen tundra" and back to her home state of Florida. She misses the sun and warmth.

And I definately think something is up with that graduation hall. My sister is known for her fantastic pictures and had a heck of a time getting decent, non blurry shots. ???? weird.

Lauren's quote is a riot!! I think it sums up what Mikki felt as well.

You are most welcome for the Pics! I'm just glad I got the one's that I did. I had to set my camera to "Sports" to even get it to work the way it did. Which wasn't real great!

We did get a couple lessons in clothes folding from my Nephew. I was amazed!! If I could only remember how to do it.

I think all of our kids would behave like our Sailors if they knew they had to do "Mountain Climbers" forever if they messed up!! LOL

Have a great one!! Keep in touch!

I agree with everything said here, I was amazed to see the change in Dakota. He was still his "old" self in the hotel room but very proper in public. And we are known for cutting up and laughing quite a bit when we are out together so it was kind of a jolt to begin with. But eventually he started muttering under his breath so only I could hear the little wise cracks lol. the funniest thing was while we were walking thru the mall, all the teenage boys walking around in the "skater clothes", Koda says " I have never wanted to go slap someone so bad in all my life". I almost wet my pants laughing.

I have never been more proud of a group of people, knowing how hard it was for them to come together as a group, than I was of all of our Sailors. Weather we are Moms, Aunts, Uncle, Sisters, etc we have taken part in raising an amazing group of Sailors....HooYah!!!

PS Dakota has been held back in the TMU due to the outcome of a medical test so everyone please say a prayer that this turns out for the best and our Sailor gets to finish his dream. Thanks, Dawn
