Navy For Moms

Hi all, trying to find others with SR's in this division. If so, our kids are going through this together! What I'm getting from my daughter in her letters is that they are doing pretty well and coming together nicely. She said they, "have personality". That made me smile. =)

hi bertha, what division is your son in?? my daughter is in 054 and its an integrated division. She has written 3 times and no phone calls yet. She wrote that she is the AROC for her division. It means she's 2nd in charge and sings the cadence and leads the marching for her division. Dont worry, we'll get a phone call soon. And wednesday they are halfway done! Its almost over, soon you'll be able to hug your boy! have a great day, Paula

Hi! My son is in Div 054, ship 14. He called once, after week 1 to tell me that he had changed Divisions. Other than that, the only thing I've gotten was one letter on Saturday. I did get his box with clothes and shoes a few days after he got to GL.

Hopefully we'll all be getting a phone call soon. My son's first name is David, but we all call him Lee.

Nice to meet you all.

ETA: I just noticed you're in Ft. Lauderdale! We're in Tallahassee!

Hi Melanie! Its so good to finally find someone else with a kid in my kids division! I'm almost sure another mom on here has a daughter in 054 but she hasnt posted here yet. And Bertha hasnt answered back yet if her son is in 054 so I'm not sure about her either. Our SR's are together for everything except sleeping and hygiene. They probably know each other.

And I've gotten about 4 letters total now, but no phone call other than the 10.5 second call to let me know she arrived safely. Hopefully they'll get a call this week. And as far as your son writing...I dont think most boys write as much as the girls do. Lauren writes letters throughout the week I think and sends them all at once on sundays. I thinks she's writing after taps. This is a no-no, but she's gettin away with it. lol

It seems the other divisions in their training group are getting phone call after phone call. I dont understand it but thats ok. I'm glad someone is getting to talk to their kid. lol

Whats your sons rate going to be?? And where is he going to A school??

And Lauren played on a Junior Olympic Gold Softball Team out of Jacksonville for a year back when she was about 16. I remember driving the 5+ hours up there every weekend for practice! lol

Hi Paula!

You're right about boys not writing as much as girls. I have to give him credit - he did write his sister and aunt too, only a few lines, but he wrote them! I'm about to drop a card in the mail for him now.

At this point, because I've only gotten one letter and no phone calls, I don't know where he'll be going to A school. What does "rate" mean? I'm really green with military stuff.

The reason I don't know Lee's A school is because he joined to be a SEAL, but after a week of boot camp he changed his program (long story). His division changed at that time and he was moved into 054. He was able to make a quick phone call to tell me he had changed divisions when that happened, but at that time, he didn't know what he would be doing.

I called his recruiter and talked to him. He basically said that he thought Lee was ready physcially for the SEAL challenge, but maybe not mentally. He assured me that because of his scores he would be able to get a good job in the Navy, and that he would be able to change back into the SEAL program in the future. I was worried that he might be a little immature right now for the SEAL program, but I'm sure he'll be like a different kid by the time he graduates BC. LOL

I can remember when our kids were in school following them all over Alabama, Georgia, and Florida. Football, band, wrestling... it kept us busy! We were living in Alabama at that time. We just moved to Florida back in September.

Well.. I need to stop rambling and go put his card in the mail! Nice chatting with you!

Melanie

Hi Paula,

My daughter is also in division 054 and graduates 1/2/09. We are in Tallahassee and she will be going to A school in Pensacola. I have been reading that there may be several months delay but not really sure what this means.
She sounds good and has done a lot of soul searching. She likes her division and said everyone is getting along well. Unfortunately one of her grandmothers died last week and she was not able to go to the funeral so that upset her. But, I spoke with her last Friday and her spirits were back up. Being from Florida, she is freezing though.l She said she sleeps with 2 sweaters, pants, socks and blankets. I just had to laugh at her because all of her life she has wanted to live somewhere that snows in the winter and is cold.

Hope we get to meet on the 2nd.

Hey Lisa! Yay another div 054 mom! it seems most of the people on this thread for our kids pir are from div 050 &051. So its nice to meet someone else in the same division. So far there are only (i think) 3 of us with kids in 054. Soo Sorry to hear about your loss. It must have been really tough on your daughter being away at a time like that.
What rate is she going to p-cola for?? Laurens going for Aircrew. She's told me in letters that there are a bunch of girls in her division going to p-cola for aircrew and she's friends with them. My kids having a blast up there. She actually almost likes it and is having fun. She said the good stuff is happening now. She loves the handson aspect of the learning. All though in a letter to my sister this week she said she was over the cold and couldnt wait to be back in florida again and see her palm trees. lol
And i do know that there is a 2-3 month delay in p-cola for aircrew school. they are backed up apparently. So basically they sit around for three months waiting for school to start. They'll do busy work and work out and stand watches while they are waiting for school to start.

And we'll probably meet on the second. =) Tell your daughter that Lauren is the AROC and the EPO, She'll know who she is based on that.
