10 months. It feels like forever but its only been 10 months. I do like seeing the updates on what all our sailors are doing.

Lauren is still in Pensacola. She finished Aircrew training in May (loved it). Is just about done with ATT and is awaiting ATO training next. She should be done with ATO in Pensacola by mid to end of November. Then she'll finally find out where her duty station is gonna be. Whidby Island, Jacksonville or (please no) Tinker AFB, Kansas. Once she gets to her base she'll have 6-9 months of flying everyday to get her quals completed so she can get her wings.

I cant say she's happy, but she's not unhappy either. I would say bored is more like it. She's really waiting to get to her duty station to see what thats all about. The Navy is just not as exciting as she'd thought it would be (so far).

I'm glad everyone is doing well. Please everyone who hasnt....tell us what your sailor is up to!!!

I have not been on in a long time either. As most of you know Chris is a MAA in the Reserves stationed in NY, but he just got activated. He leaves for VA in two weeks. He will get additional training and then on Jan 2ND(Doesn't that date sound familiar?)
he is being deployed to Kuwait. He is going to be there for about 6 months. Right now he is trying to get everything in order since they only gave him 30 days notice.

Hope everyone's Sailors are doing well and enjoying their Navy life. Too bad we could not have another Get Together to catch up, but I guess this site will have to do.

I haven't been on here for ages. Vivian and Glen, hope your son is home soon for a visit. Scott is in Portsmouth, Va for Surg Tech C School and just got his new orders. He will graduate from Surg Tech C School in November and then stay on for another 5 months of another C School-Urology Tech. He does love the area so that is good. I think all our kids have done exceptionally well after boot-camp. Congratulations and Good Luck to all of them.

Vivian and Glen,
Congrats to Dan on completing Gunnery school. I know you are looking forward to having him home. At least he was in the Chicago area where there was alot of things to see and do. Hans was at Meridian Ms for his training and it is in the middle of nowhere. Fortunately, Hans was use to being in the country so it didn't bother him that much. Now he is stationed out of Japan on a ship and is seeing the world.

All - it's strange to read all your posts now - I haven't been on this group in months. Reading all your notes ... your sailors are now scattered all over the place. Our son started boot camp on 4 November, graduated on 2 Jan and is still in Great Lakes! He finished Gunnery school out there on 31 July and is waiting for his orders. He can't take leave until they come through of course.... We moved to Virginia when he left for boot camp and he's never been here - hasn't seen our house or anything else. Can't wait to get him home for a week! Glen

Thanks, Jason's Mom and Dad for answering my question. Hans called us this morning before Burt went to work. We had a good conversation with him. He started his cranking duty today. Saturday, he and a friend are going whitewater rafting. Also the city in Australia will have a big Fourth of July celebration which I think is pretty cool.

Kim,
Homemade cookies and care packages suffer from air travel and alot of shock from hand to hand movment (droping ect) getting to your sailor, most of mine that arrived were the size of quarters or slightly larger with a mass of crumbs, granted in did not matter as it was from home and they sure were good. What held up good was rice krispie treats and items like this. I got a care package from my granparents once in the Indian Ocean and noticed the box was opened, torn and smashed but it loked like all was there. I read their letter and noticed the ketchup bottle was missing. I went down to the master at arms and jokingly asked if they had drank my grandfathers wine he sent me, I had the cheese and crackers. So careful what you send.
Take care
