Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

That's awesome, Navymomx2! Good luck to him and to your daughter!

Hey, gang!  So my sailor, who shipped out of Great Lakes to A school in San Antonio on July 4th, is FINALLY going to be starting classes tomorrow.  Has had three weeks to acclamated to the base, etc.  Not complaining on my end, because he will now be in Texas three weeks longer, so when my daughter gets there to A school in October ( she will be leaving for basic four weeks from today, on 8/20), her big brother will be there that much longer at the same time.  Hope everyone is well.

Cheers!

I joined two different groups related to Pensacola and a few others. I sent my mom some links but she's not much of an Internet person so I'll probably just keep her posted on whatever I learn through here.

Hi JustApril!

You could join this group in Pensacola.  It's a fun, chatty group!  http://www.navyformoms.com/group/sailorsinpensicolaflforaschool?gro...

There are also state and regional groups that you could check out.  There may also be a group for siblings or sisters.  Is your mom going to join Navy for Moms or are you the "information gatherer?"

Hi everyone! My membership for NavyForMoms just got approved today but it was a major source of information for my mom and I last week! We watched the ceremony online since we couldn't be there in person. Now my brother is in Pensacola, awaiting information about starting A School. I really appreciate the information I was able to find here!
