N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

It's hard to believe its only been 4 weeks. It seems like forever since I got to spend the weekend with my son. Now I'm counting the Fridays until Christmas.

Being a Navy mom means a lot of counting the weeks.

I found this on Navy for Dads.

DVD's and VHS tapes of PIR
are mailed out to the address given by the recruit approximately 5-7 weeks
after PIR. The Cruisebook (Keel Yearbook)
arrives 8-10 weeks after PIR.

Thanks Ellen65. He was asking about it.
It's so great to be able to talk to my SA again. He's a poor letter writer but I get a call or text almost every day now.

My son phases up last week and went to the enlisted club at GL (is that what it's called still?). He wore his division tshirt and said there were a group of his division with the tshirt on so he was able to catch up with some of his BC division!

OK ladies! Bare with me as I attempt to update you on life after PIR. I'm on a tablet because I gave my computer to sailor son. Lol He's enjoying it, too. He's not sure he wants to buy a new one just yet. One more thing to carry and probably no way to use it later. Lol

Thank you Laura and others who made it possible for me to go to PIR!  It was eventful! I had the best time with Naty..Joe R's mom and her family. I met quite a few people! Had water dumped on me day of PIR by a navy cop....took 233 pics of Downtown Chicago alone. Let's just say I filled my media card and started filling my tablet later with lots of pictures!  My son and I had the best time! I don't know what Navy boot camp does to others but I do know that it brought more of my son out. The shrugging man of few words before? He and I talk daily now. Usually all Navy too. Lol He shares a lot with me.

Chicago was a good recharge and regroup trip for me. I can't explain it. But I've been making changes since I got home to better my own life. Work is good. More hours and some training for other responsibilities. I work and sleep. And fuss with the last teen at home. Being around all my Navy sisters was a good boost to my self esteem. And a good swift kick to make me get back into a ME routine! It's bothering other people and getting noticed by others. Lol I guess I had epiphany's being away from what I used to accept as normal. Only to realize that I wasn't happy at all. :) My other children and of course boyfriend think I'm completely insane and overly occupied with anything Navy. They still don't get it. I don't talk much to them now. Son completely gets it though.

I didn't forget about all of you! !  I stay mostly on Facebook and preoccupy myself with new things and work. I'm simply trying to improve my life and exercise some freedom to experience life and actually have a life. So boot camp did indeed change two lives for the better! ! Feel free to stay in touch OK? I would have never been able to survive it all without all of you!! I am so grateful. Without you?

I would have been lost. Literally lost.

Hooyah! !!

I just watched the PIR online, all the way through. I wanted to see things I might have missed. And I recall certain moments that stood out and either gave me goosebumps or got me a little teary (I didn't really cry like I expected to! Go me!)

When that door rolled up and I saw those marching feet. WOW! (my son (279) said when they heard the roar they looked at each other wondering what that was, I told that that was the roar of happy, proud families!). The Sailor's Creed (lump in my throat), Navy Hymn (Oh here us when we cry to thee for those in peril on the sea), that one always brings some tears, Anchors Aweigh! And Liberty Call!! Awesome moments all! But most of all, seeing that sailor of ours, and seeing his pride in accomplishment. Priceless.
