Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

There is now a Facebook page specifically for Logistic Specialist Navy Families....just type the name in the search box at the top of your page in FB and it will come up. The page is for chit chat, photos, questions and answers and general information. It is good to have a Group Page specifically for that rating. :)

Vanmom2013, ATT is approx 7 weeks. They kind of work at their own pace, but they all still finish at the same time.

Good Morning Moms:

Anyone here know if ATT School before A School for AECF has a specific length or is it based on how quickly the Sailor learns the Material?

Leaving this group now.  Blessings to your new sailors in their continuing journey!

HA!  Yes, on the listing of the family relationships rather than names.  But some of the RDCs must have told them to do this originally as it would be my son's nature to have listed our names the first time.  Since others have done the same thing in the past (like TY!), then I think some of the RDCs must tell them to do this.

Good Morning!

Mama:  Are you on the FIT group on this site?  If not, be sure to join it.  Now, to shed some light on this, your SR will be trying M W F to pass the run (I assume it is the run?).  As long as he is improving, he gets more chances.  Once he passes it, he will do BattleStations with the next group going through (most likely) and will call you when he is a sailor.  He then will head straight to A School, no PIR.  They do get some Liberty between BattleStations and departing for A School if you live close enough to get up there then!

Peggy and diannep- my son's list was mom, dad, grandma, grandpa. I was wondering how that was going to work. Apparently he fixed it but how funny. I thought is was great.

Ok -- any other moms out there with an SR held over for FIT in SHP 4/DIV 2344? I'm feeling a bit in the dark about how that process works.
Comment by diannep on August 12, 2013 at 12:55pm

Thanks for all of this info, Peggy!  So glad that the families all got in with the "blank" guest lists!  We had never heard of that happening before.  My son's had family relationship listed in his first list:  Mom, Brother, Aunt, Cousin so I'm sure that he had to substitute names for the final list when he was up there.
