OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the time
to read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Congratulations to both your sailors Corbie. It has been a joy having my Sailor home for this past week. He will go back to A school in Great Lakes at the end of the week. I don't know when I will see him in person again. We are blessed to have those in our lives that still want to serve their country. Enjoy the rest of your sailor's visit home and I hope you get to visit with the other one real soon. Happy 2013 to all!

Kevsmom I too was disappointed with the keel book. I told my Sailor about it when it arrived. His words were "well it was free with the package I bought". It is still a nice book and the memories are still there.

Kevin is also un designated and his ship is going to dry dock. Yes he's done some painting, (some wrestling guys are coming on his ship Saturday) so gotta spruce it up. He's also been having to get some odd ball things taken care of (classes) but he's gotten to do a couple really neat things to so far. Mostly he's had issues in adjusting because no routine yet and just not known what's coming next. I'm glad to hear so many of your sailors are doing well:)

Got my dvd and keel book. For those who don't know already, the keel book doesn't have all of the 10/26 grads. Mine only had 349 and 350 and after trying to pick my boy out of the pics of activities, those are not pics from this pir either.. The only current shots are the group pics at the end. So beware before you strain your eyes trying to find your sailor. It's still a nice book, but a little disappointed.

I am with you on the shorter bit, but it could also be harder because everyone knows the routine and their co workers except them! I hope the old hands aren't too hard on the booties!

GFTatter. She's the one he was talking about going with him to WA and then the ship. He's also undesignated but he's hoping he sees something he would like to do and then put together a package. I'm just glad their tour is underway and their first one will be shorter.

mcarlson711: Yes, the Stennis. She flies out Friday. There is another list you can join for Stennis families, too. My dear daughter is Undesignated. She may get to do grunt work on deck... painting, rope handling etc. What is your stepson?

I wish $370 was our price.  Our flight was almost $800.00 and that was with a supersaver discount and was booked last month. We're in California so it's a bit of a looonnnng way :).
