OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the time
to read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Update:  haven't been on in a while.  I got to attend both of my sailors PIR's in November and my husband got home from his 2 mo outing yesterday.  I won't get to see my 11/9 sailor for Christmas, but we will pick him up in Pensacola on the 28th and he'll be with us for New Years which is a family reunion for my family.  Everyone can't wait to see him.  My other son will be home for Christmas/New Years.  This will probably be the last year we will all be together for New Years.  Happy and Sad.  Thanks to all of you and I wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.  God bless our sailors in their new journeys.

Hi Everybody, Sailor called last night to give me the info on stand down at Goose Creek (it was the exact dates I told him at PIR) but is now official as he has his dates and time all approved.  Will be home Dec 21 has to be back Jan 5. So excited! Plane fares are horrible this time of year and this late, no direct flight from Charleston to PHila, so will have a 3 hour layover in Newark, NJ but he said he doesn't care just wants to be home for Christmas.  He classed up on Nov 26 and is glad to actually be doing something rather than being on hold. Says he loves it and is happy with his decision, but still a little nervous that it is more relaxed now than boot camp, says he is still waiting for someone to start screaming (lol) Hope everyones Sailors are doing well. HUGS

Proudstepmom, hang in there! There will be a time that your sailor will turn around. Trust me I know. Boot camp was a short amount of time. We are still here for you....

Hi everyone! Time is flying by. I love that I can talk to my Sailor every few days. He is doing great. The has phased up and passing his A school testes in GL. I am so thankful to the Adopt a Sailor program. My Sailor got a awesome family. They show him around Chicago and took them to a muesem. My Sailor will be coming home to visit next week. He will say for a week then be stationed at San Diego. Two hours from our home. I hope all of you and your Sailors are doing well. Keep in touch. Tell us how everything is going.

ProudStepMom, I wouldn't worry too much, sometimes the indoc period between boot camp and A school is a challenge for them.  They feel free after all the control of boot camp, they have weekend liberty with no parents or RDC's around, they have money, probably more than they have before.  Once A school starts he will be busy, watch's are part of his job he'll adjust to it, they do give them financial schooling and they can get talked to if they don't keep their finances straight, the Navy expects responsibility from them and that includes financial.  As far as the girl of a week and a half, probably a fling, once he is out of A school he'll be stationed at a new base and in the fleet so I doubt she will follow him.  Try telling him you have no room and were hoping for a family Christmas with him and see what he says.  Just keep talking to him it will work itself out. We are here if you need to vent.

*sigh* well the excitement of graduation has wore off and just as I had feared, the freedom has proved to be a little more than our "soldier" can handle. At this point we have credit cards arriving at our house in his name, bank statements that are just about over drawn (may be now, we've stopped looking), 4 requests for his address with no reply, complaining about pulling duty on Facebook, and now... A refusal to come home for xmas unless we allow his new girlfriend if a week in a half come stay with him the while time at our house. Mind you, we have no extra bed or room. Not even a full size couch (not that we would consider unless she was an orphan with no where to go anyhow). BUT - he is a big boy now and will make his own decisions and pay his own consequence. It's just so disheartening, after all the talks and the lessons and the time we put in teaching him about credit and money and respect and morals... I guess I have to just wait it out. Thanks for listening!

Hi karens, just sent you a message. Luke is enjoying Groton and the freedom he gets there compared to bc. I don't think he has classed up yet but he does seem to be happy. My son just graduated C school in Pensacola and is headed for A school now. Hopefully he will be home for the holidays. Luke already has his liberty but my son doesn't. I am hoping he gets it this coming week. I keep watching the ticket prices go up, sigh. Hope everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving and heard from their sailors. Take care.

My sailor is still in Great Lakes until Dec. 1st so we drove up to be with him on Thanksgiving. We ended up spending the day with other family in Chicago, and he even stayed overnight with us at the hotel. We'll be leaving for home tomorrow morning. Overall it was a great weekend, and like you all said,he'll be home for Christmas so looking forward to that.
