N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Hello, Just checking in. How is everyone's Sailors? My Sailor got back from his 1st deployment in May and is now in dry dock for awhile. He has 2 years left and is still trying to figure out if he wants to stay in or not.

Have a great day

HI Everyone!!! I hope you are all doing well!! It's so hard to believe our Sailors PIR was 3 years ago! My Sailor is a Nuke Machinist Mate and currently serving on a sub on the other side of the world since Oct. of last year. Thank god for Facebook and the technologies we have right now! I can't imagine waiting for a letter! I hope everyone, your Sailor and your families are doing well! :)

I hope your sailor gets to come home for Christmas also, Majorityrulz.  And by the way, where the heck is Damneck??

Comment by Majorityrulz on October 18, 2014 at 6:11pm
I am hoping to see mine at Christmas, then he will be deployed. I'm right down the street from Damneck! It was beautiful out today so I hope the ones here are enjoying it.

I don't know why I keep forgetting to check in on this site.  I guess facebook gets in the way.  I too am feeling the nostalgia of a year ago.  This site was so active and such a great support system.  How can we forget Battle Stations !  lol   Remembering the excitement of PIR and seeing our Sailors after such a long & stressful time.  Makes my heart swell with pride still.  My son was home last Christmas and is hoping to get home again this Christmas.  I've never gone this long without seeing him.  I miss him so much !

So, Barb, how did the test go for your son?  Hopefully he has ranked up. I hope your plans go through for the holidays also.

I'm sure once I see my son again & have to say goodbye (again) I will not be able to hold back the tears, MagoostersMom.  It's been so long since I've seen him I won't want to let him go.  I'll enjoy every minute spent I do get to spend with him though !

Yes, sosfirst, they will always be our babies.

Hello Everyone, Wow it has been a year. I remember this site was my life saver. A way to find out when calls were happening and anyone remember Battle Stations? Well my sailor just left A school (Great Lakes) and has moved onto Damneck where he will be until around May, then who knows where the wind will take him. I am so proud of all of our Sailors. Even now the tears are trying to come out. They are United States Navy Sailors but they will always be our babies.

I have to say sorry to everyone here! I have not been on here since boot camp. How is everyone holding up? How are all of your kids doing?

We are back state-side now!  My son didn't get what he had requested (Japan), but got a somewhat curious, yet honorable assignment.  He had said that he wanted us to use his car while we were back, but when he got his orders and tried to get to the commissary (1.5 miles), he realized that he was going to need his car!  The best part of that was that we were able to drive his car to CA, picking up our daughter in the LA area and all 6 of us were able to be together for 2 days.  We were even able to attend chapel on the AF base that he is on.  What a sweet, blessed time.  I tell my friends that it was like GOLD!  He plans to take a month off over the holidays, if it works for him. His sister will graduate from college in December, so she should be able to come home during that time, too :)

Last week, my sailor called and told us that his commander had called him in to apologize to him.  Apparently, he qualifies to take the test in September to rank-up.  He was supposed to be notified 6 months before the test in order to give him time to prepare.  He now has 1 month (or less) to get ready!!  He was given a bibliography of things to read that was a page and a half long.  The first item on the list is over 1000 pages! I'm so glad we know that God has it all in control.  I don't know how I would handle a lot of this otherwise!!
