I know that countdown says 19, but I'm going to start doing things differently at my house. I'm going to say we have "18 days and a wake up"!! lolol When my father was stationed overseas and the guys would get their orders of transfer back to the US they would do their countdown and always put "and a wake up". Seeing that we have to be at the base bright and early I'm going to NOT count that day! lolol Just say it's a wake-up. Makes it sound a little closer, right?

Sorry...just my mind working overtime!!! lolol

Jamie ~ it's so sad that one of our own military can open fire on some of their own. Just a horrible tragedy. Can't imagine living there and feeling the emotion of this event first-hand. My heart-felt prayers go out to all involved.

Margie ~ my son also said the RDC's are great and are even handing out compliments!! Made it sound like things are definitely on an upswing!!! His letters sounded so positive.

we also got a letter. not terribly newsy but still pretty upbeat. has anyone else in 04/008 said they think their RDC's are cool? gosh i hope that kid can get through that run. i'll be so broken-hearted if he misses it. we'll have to see. it is what it is. take care ladies <3

yeah when the post commander finally came out for the press conference and said the shooter was alive i started screaming at the tv :) like what the heck are you serious!!very tragic! we where shocked in this house!
Margie Comment by Margie on November 5, 2009 at 11:26pm
it was a soldier. he was going to be re-deployed and wanted to be discharged. just horrifying. At first they thought there were more shooters and they thought the officer who exchanged gunfire with him shot and killed him but he is in a hospital. 12 killed, 31 injured. God what a tragedy. stay safe jamie!
