My son, Josh, is 046 USS CHICAGO. Anyone else? I am very excited about PIR but they couldn't have chosen a worse time. Trying to fly is going to be quite the challenge. I am afraid to buy our tickets, in case things change. But I am also worried that if I wait, there will be none left! Anyone have any suggestions?

Hello all - I am always thankful of all the information about PIR. The more we share -- the more we can be prepared.The grad and go is what we need to find out, as we were going to spend a few days thinking he would be available. I guess it will be a waiting game. Though we did set up our flights due to the holidays. We are still waiting for our first letter -- anxiously. Take care all. -- Linda

when I called the RTC that is what he told me, except for those who would be in A school there at GL. But, I called my son's recruiters office and asked why they would grad n go a class and send them to a base that is on stand down (closed essentially) for the holiday. The recruiter told me that our kids can submit a request for a leave for a day or two and then if approved they could stay in GL for a couple of days after they PIR. So you may want to write him and ask about it

Thanks Jamie.. I will try again tomorrow. Do you think all kids from 12/24 PIR will be grad and go ? I was hoping to spend some time with him.

you should be able to call the office and speak to any recruiter there not just the one your son spoke with. Thats what I did and I found out more from another navy recruiter in the same officer then the one that worked with my son

I've been trying to find out where my son's A school will be.. I can't reach the recruiter. I hope it's not GRad and Go because I wanted to at least spend a an afternoon with my son.. He's in DIV 045

Hi everyone...Thanks for making this group Jamie. I still haven't had a phone call yet from Kelly but I did get one letter. I'll check the mailbox tonight when I get home from work and see if maybe (fingers x'd) there is another one from her. The 12/24 grad date totally sucks. For me to travel from Alaska means I'll have to head there about 12/22 to make sure I'm there on the 24th, and then I don't know if she's grad and go or even where her A school is. I'm going to call the recruiter now to try to find at least where her A school is going to be, though I think Kelly thought it would be Pensacola. If she's grad and go, do I make plans to fly home christmas eve? Yuck. And I definitely don't want to fly Christmas day. I want to see her so bad and I want to see the PIR, but so much is still up in the air. Plus round trip air fare from Alaska is more than the airfare I paid to fly to Europe with Kelly this Fall!

I got my first letter today. He sent me one and his three little sisters. The baby sister just kept crying. I'm so very happy and he's so happy that he may be home for Christmas. This is the best news ever. My heart keeps skipping happy beats!

YAY Judy....has anyone gotten the Grad packet yet? I figure it should be coming within the next week and half, but I could be wrong

Finally got a response back from RTC on why they originally had "forgotten" two divisions, 036 and 037. It was an error and my sons division 036 is graduating 12-24-08. so here I am, happy to know the date and anxiously awaiting that final letter/packet to find out if my son is grad n go or if he'll be able to spend some time with us. Hello to everyone :-)
