Hi Ladies, well Ryan got his orders. He is off to San Diego for at least 2 years shore duty. He is to be attached to a training squadran at Miramar Marine Base. He's excited to have the shore duty with the baby coming in November. He'll be home at the end of this month. Yay!!!

Hi Ladies, I'm really sorry about the deaths as well. Is there anyway to send flowers to the families? I came on here to give everyone an update on Mike, but now my funny story doesn't seem so funny. I will just say that Mike is now back at his base and he said the procedure was not bad, he slept through it. He told me the best thing about it was that he got to sleep on a hotel bed for three days straight. He says he really misses a real bed and then he said his bed.

Take care ladies and I'm always praying for our sailors.

Rebecca, one was an injury/illness that was not caught, that was about a month ago. The one that just happened is in my son's barracks. He knew the sailor as he was the section leader for awhile.. He is now in charge of keeping all the section leaders and sections organized. The young man was found Saturday morning in his bed by his roommate. It is being investigated. He was well liked and awaiting a clearance so he could move on to his next school. It is very sad.

What???? What is the cause of these deaths?
Diane Elling Comment by Diane Elling on September 6, 2009 at 2:18am
I have read where there have been a couple of deaths at Great Lakes of our sailors... Please keep these families in your prayers... we are lucky when our own are doing well. My son gets to come home 3 weekends and then a duty weekend. That will change once he gets classed up again at GL. He has never left this base since he joined the Navy but has been nice since he gets home 3 weekends a month. Next year he will go to the fleet and then more school. Have a great Labor Day weekend.

Hi Theresa! ohhhhhhhhhhh I am sorry to hear about Mikes hand. Dogginit. Princess, what's the update on Mike??
Well, the Bells Palsy is getting better. I still have a little ways to go. Feeling a lot better. Just got a Rx for B-12 injections and that has really helped. I am getting there with my smile and my eye closes almost completely. (can't wink AT ALL) but I am so happy to look a little more normal. Thank you for asking. When is deployment over?

Princess,
Let us know how Mike is doing after his root canal. Will he travel by himself? My boy dropped a piece of metal on his hand and broke it earlier in the week but seems to be doing ok. Of course, I had a million questions because I knew he didn't have the opportunity to have an orthopaedic doctor set it but he just sort of shrugged it off. Says it's just swollen and bruised but you know the mom in all of us kicks in. I'm sure Mike will be fine; let's just be glad they can save the tooth.
Rebecca, I hope your Bells Palsy is getting better. Let us know how you are doing.
As for me, I'm going to a half way party next week with a group of navy wives from the ship. This first deployment is winding down. whoo hoo!!!

Thank you so much for your support Rebecca. Letting go is so very hard. Someone reminded me in the Japan group that the Navy is footing the bill 100%, plus he gets to visit another part of Japan and stay in a hotel. So that is a better perspective, especially footing the bill part, probably if the dentist told me he needed this while here I would have gotten a little upset about him. My daughter told me I would have asked him why hasnt he brushing his teeth correctly. LOL She's 11 and says the darnest things.

that's pretty weird Princes. I agree with you. poor baby. On a lighter note, he'll be alright and you know....that "letting go" thing we Moms have to keep hearing.....it is true, It sucks, but it is really true. They actually do grow up and do well in spite of us! As for you my friend..........YOU'LL BE ALRIGHT TOO. We ARE HEAR FOR IF YOU NEED US, RIGHT LADIES?.

Hi everyone, my son just called and said that he has to leae Saesbo and fly to Yokoska (sp) Japan to have a root canal! I'm really upset and wonder why they didn't find this in boot camp. I hate that he is having all of this work done and I can not be with him. I have never heard of an 18 year old having a root canal when he has seen the dentist regularly all of his life.
