Very sorry to hear about the submariner. As a parent I can't imagine going through something like that.

My Michael has settled in at Whidbey Island NAS. He is going to Las Vegas for some kind of training, (couldn't quite hear him on my cellphone) with his unit in August. We're only 3 hours away from him right now but we haven't seen him very much. He is really enjoying being grown up and on his own.

Our daughter left for USMC bootcamp on Fathers day so we are going through an adjustment with her gone. She is at Parris Island. It's going to be a long summer but I've found a site for parents of Marine recruits and I'm settling in there.

This sight got me through Mike being gone and I hope the Marine one will help me adjust to Meg being gone.

I hope all the Navy is working out great for your kids, so far I think it's the best thing for Mike and I am still so proud of him!

Hi Everyone and Happy 4th of July. It feels a little different this year with it being the first fourth with our sons in the military. Hope everyone is doing well.

he isn't one of the 12/24 but he is stationed with my son, they are from PA where we are from

Update on Micheal. They have already arrested the man who killed him. What happened is this man tried to take money off the bar that belonged to 4 sailors. We all know what happens when that happens.
