He purchased a laptop at the NEX?  Great idea!  I promised my daughter a Macbook for graduation ... was going to order one online --- wonder if they'd be cheaper at the NEX?  Or at least the same price and she could get one right away?

My son called home while I was at work and talked to his step dad and brother.  He is "holding" right now in a room at Corry Station.  Class doesn't start for a couple of weeks.  He said he has two other roomates and loves the base.  He said it is awesome and has a bowling alley, huge NEX, movie theatre, huge gym, pools etc.  I am feeling jealous about right now.  He had to purchase a laptop for school today at the NEX so I am courious what he got.  He will be able to get me the address tomorrow so I can start sending him some of his stuff from home.

himmie - I know! :)  I have texted my son a couple of times today.  He said he doesn't have a roommate yet and he was trying to rest after such a long day.  Looking forward to getting his address - I had just gotten in the habit of writing him everyday - found it very theraputic!  My sister and brother are ready to start sending him care packages!  Hopefully he'll get it soon.

KDB1...That is sooo cool that your husband was able to see your son at the Georgia airport.  I got the phone call around 1035am that they made it to Pensacola safely.  They were getting their bags and headed out to get taxis.  There were 69 total Sailors heading over to Pensacola from different bases apparently.  I haven't gotten a call yet stating he is on the base, but they are busy getting their rules, dorms and briefing stuff.  I am sure they will call tonight if not tomorrow.  I at least got 2 calls today.  That is more than I got the first day in bc.

Heard from my son.  The group made it safely to Meridian MS.  He already likes it MUCH better than boot camp--especially the 71 degree temp.  Says he has one roommate instead of 60.  We are going to fedex his phone and computer to him tomorrow.
