My youngest son and I drove to Beaufort to spend Christmas with my sailor. He had to work both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, and he's on night shift so much of my time was spent watching him sleep. But guess what? I enjoyed every minute of it. We still had time to spend together. He bought me a Kindle Fire HD for Christmas. I fussed at him for spending so much but I really love it! Next Christmas he will be in Greece, but the Christmas after that, he will be home for good!
I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas!!

Yes, can not believe it has been 2 years, his date is December 7th for entering bootcamp. My son has gone through 1 deployment. He returned after 8 monthes at sea and was apart of Operation Enduring Freedom. The deployment was extended and that was heartbreaking. But we has loved ones know the ups and downs of having a loved one serving. I know that it is hard and could not have made it through with out wonderful friends and family. We were not able to skype. The only form of communication was email, letters and phone calls. Not seeing my son was the hardest. I cherished every phone call and every email or letter. God blessed us with his safe return. I wish you all the best in the comming year ahead. Take care;

myboysmom - Today is the two year anniversary for my son too. I got a little teary-eyed today just thinking about it. He has been an MA at the Naval Hospital in Beaufort, SC. I'm going to spend Christmas with him this year. It's his third year away from home on Christmas, and mostly like he won't be home next year either so I'm heading south.

kathyf - Yes, I'm pretty happy with Greece. The world is such a mess and you really never know where the next hot spot will be, but I prayed and left it in God's hands and asked Him to put my son where He thought best so I have a real peace about his orders. I have been spoiled a bit with him being about 10 hours away, and being able to visit back and forth 3-4 times a year, but this is the Navy and we both knew when he signed up there would be periods of long separations. But we made it through boot camp, A school and many other trials and tribulations....we can make it through this as well. Many of you ladies have already had to deal with the separation, so let me know how you managed!

Well today is the day....2 years ago was the saddest day of my life. I sent my boy off to Chicago to become property of the US Navy! I sent them a boy and they returned him home to me a man! I am so very proud of the man he has become. He has spent the last 22 months in D.C. in the Ceremonial Honor Guard. He is on the firing party and participates in funerals at Arlington National Cemetary, arrivals of dignitaries at the White House, ceremonies at the Pentagon and the Capitol. He has had some exciting things happen to him while in D.C. on of which was being able to participate in the burial at sea for the Great Neil Armstrong!!! He was so honored to be asked to participate in this. If anyone would like to see any of the pics you can go to Flicker.com and look up Neil Armstrong burial at sea. It was pretty awesome! Also, the most important is he met the love of his life while in D.C. We are so happy for him and she is a wonderful lady. We are so proud of him. He will be in D.C. until February then he will FINALLY get to go to A-school for Corpsman in San Antonio, TX. But he has enjoyed his time in the Navy so far. It hasn't been all roses but the good has definitely out weighed the bad. I hope everyone is doing well and good luck to you and yours sailors in their future endeavors. May everyone have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!! While we are celebrating a happy day those in Newtown have suffered a great loss. Lets keep them all in our thoughts and prayers!

Well I guess we are all marking our 2 years since our sailors' joined two years ago. Ours is on December 14. NukeMom my son will not be home for the holidays too. He finally got out of School in October. We are planning to visit them in San Diego. He may not be available too. It was a chance to try to visit him. It just depends if he gets deployed. He won't know till January. If not we can visit my Father in Law. My son's wife is in SD so we can visit her too. My son is still working on making E-4 Petty Officier. Hopefully he can do it after he gets on the ship. He tells me there is a lot of competition.

Hello ladies. Dec 16th will mark my two years since my son joined. He just got his orders for the USS Truman out of Norfolk. He is still in Prototype School up in New York. He will not be home for Christmas this year again. But we are hanging in there with the carepackages.

Hope everyone's Holidays are blessed.

Hi MountainMama! Greece, how awesome! Are you happy or sad? I'd be sad cuz he'd be so far away :) BUT like you said, save that money so you can go visit him and do some sight seeing :)

Dec. 15th is my son's 2 year mark and he just made Petty Officer 3rd class, I'm so happy for him, he started out as an E1 so he's worked his way up. His big sister started out an E3 and she's still an E3 so you can imagine the competition there, although she did have a baby and is doing school so she hasn't had a lot of time to study but you can bet she will now that little brother just passed her by, lol.  My daughter is actually deployed right now on the Stennis, she had to leave her 1 year old little girl behind with me because her husband is on the Nimitz and can't keep her because of the ships schedule, plus it was supposed to deploy soon, but it had a mechanical set back, but he's flying in Friday from WA to spend his leave time with us and Izzy for Christmas.

Pink scarves, I still wear mine for sure :)

Merry Christmas everyone, I hope you get to spend it with your sailors, this is the first time in two years that mine will be home, the first time he was in BC the second time he was deployed.

Hello Navy Moms! My son just got his orders for overseas. He's headed for Souda Bay, Greece. I think I'll get an extra job so save some money and go visit him.
Well, this Friday is the two year mark for my son. In some ways it seems like yesterday, and other times, it seems like forever ago. Just thinking about it brings back all the emotions. But I'm so thankful for how far God has brought us all!

Thank you, MountainMama. Happy Thanksgiving to you too. I can't believe we are getting ready to mark our 2 year anniversary of our sailors' ship dates. While our sailors have all moved on to different assignments, I will always continue to follow our Navy Moms group. My sailor will not be home for Thanksgiving, but he is very happy in his current assignment, which makes me happy, proud and thankful. God bless all of the Navy Mom's and Dad's and their sailors. I will be thinking about all of you on Thanksgiving Day.

I would like to wish all my Navy BFF's a Happy Thanksgiving! Still miss our daily conversations and will always feel close to you all because of all the stress, worry, joy, and prayers that we shared together. I'm pretty sure I woud have gone completely out of my mind without you ladies. Love you all!! God bless!
