Navy For Moms

Ladies of future nukes with PIR 5/15, I'd love to organize so we can stay in touch during the next phase of our guys' Navy careers. My son Andy will be an MM and arrived in Goose Creek on 5/20.

Anyone else out there with sailors heading for Goose Creek on Wednesday?

Nice to meet you Cathy. Andy is leaving tomorrow night. I'm going to friend request you so we can exchange our sailor's names.
Girls, I have an address that we can use for Goose Creek until we get a more permanent one. I was assured our sailors would get their things using this address. Just don't send anything untill you confirm that they have arrived.

FN LAST NAME, FIRST NAME
INDOC
101 NNPTC CIRCLE
GOOSE CREEK, SC 29445-6324

All the sailors are FN (Fireman) untill they get through A school
Hi Susan! Jonathan says he's leaving Wednesday too. He's MM like Andy, so I think they'll be doing a lot of the same things. He said there were other Nukes in his Div but I'm not sure how many or when they're going. I'm soooo relieved he didn't end up switching jobs!!! He actually volunteered for subs as well. I was surprised but we are just encouraging him with whatever he wants to do. We are so proud of these guys!!!

Thanks for the address. I am hoping he can call before they leave Wednesday but if not, we know they'll have a lot more freedom once they get to GC.

We definitely have to stay in touch on here to get us through this next step ladies!!!
Hi Tommie,

So I guess Jonathan decided to stick with the Nuke program! That's great. I'm sending you Andy's name in a message. I can't remember if I've done that already. I'll ask Andy if he knows your son if you send me his name. Andy told me he'd try and call tomorrow when he knew his flight time. I'll let you know if I hear anything.
Hi ya'll! My name is Dani and my boyfriend David just graduated from BC this past weekend and is headed to SC to Nuke School tomorrow! He is also an MM, and thinks he starts school on June 3rd, so him and the guys will be on hold until then. He told me yesterday when I left Chicago that he would get a phone call when he got to the airport so hopefully he'll have more information then! I'll let you know what I hear!

My new Sailor has his PIR this Friday (July 1) and will be flying to Goose Creek on Saturday.  Will this be the address I can use to send some of his clothes before he arrives?  I am hoping to not have to pay for an additional suitcase when we fly to Great Lakes for the graduation.  In call today he said his rank is EM but he also said he is a Fireman so I'm a bit confused by that.  Cindy

Hi Cindy,

Sorry, this group has kinda moved on since our PIR in 2009 so you probably won't get any answers from here.  Congrats on your new sailor though!!!

Hello ladies. Graduation was amazing! I am so proud of of our guys! Joe was grad & go, we got to spend an hour with him at the base, Then we drove to the airport to meet up with him. We visited about an hour then I received a devastating call from my mother that my step-father had just suffered a massive heart attack and had passed away. We stayed with Joe until he had to board his flight. I called Red Cross and his Nuke Advisor to see if he could just come home with us, but he had to report to SC. They were great about giving him leave to come home for the funeral, but he had to pay $800 for a round trip ticket. I picked him up at the airport last night. The funeral is tomorrow. He gets to be home with me until Friday. I didn't know my biological father, my mom & step dad have been married for 28 yrs. Since I was 13. He was my Dad. It's been a very emotional week, but having Joe home for a few days helps alot. His Grandfather was a Navy Veteran and served during the Korean War. Well, I am exhausted, goodnight ladies.
Donna, I am so very sorry to hear your sad news. My sympathy to you and your family in this difficult time.
I am so thankful Joe got home to be with his family. The Navy really is good to us and our sailors.
Hugs,
Dee

PS...it was wonderful meeting you!
Donna, I am so sorry to hear of your news. You and your family are in my prayers. Stay close to that sailor of yours for support. I glad you have him home with you. Susan
