Definitely bring her car home. We turned off his cell phone because the carrier said it may not work in some of the countries. He never called while in port - having too much fun. You should get her some ship to shore cards from AT&T Global, those are the only ones that work on the ship. Then we did the tiger cruise when they returned. It was great! I carried on a duffle bag of brownies for his divison.

hahahaha...we may just drive over to Mayport for her holiday...which ever it is and forgo the Christmas decorations this year??? I am not looking forward to the deployment...did he take his cell phone with him and did it work when they got into ports?? Or did you close the accounts until he returned?...did he use calling cards on the ship?? or did he only call when he was in port? We will have to go over and help her move out of her barracks and back to the ship...take all her stuff and her car and bring it back to Pcola while she is gone. Some kids leave their stuff in their cars parked on the base...but I can not imagine that is good for the car to sit parked for 7 or more months??? Seems like the tires would dry rot out!! not looking forward to any of it Robin

Deployment was hard. I lived for e-mails but sometimes the e-mail is down. He called from the ship but the connection is terrible - we didn't care, just to hear his voice was a joy. I kept a scrapbook of all the news articles, called the ombudsman careline all the time, watched the google alerts, mailed tons of care packages, put sticky flags on the map. They are also splitting Christmas and New Year. I don't know which he'll get. My husband figures we'll just buy a dead tree at the after Christmas tree lot sale, paint it green and call it good!

Vickie...we drive over about once a month...have not been over since 4th of July though...it is hard to get the schedules to line up sometimes....She is going to sea in Nov for training and then deployment in Feb....she has avoiding cranking so far???? And she is not asking anyone about it either!! hahahaha..she lives in baracks too and seems to like it all...she has 3 roomates...1 who does not live there (lives with bf) and one who only comes home to change clothes...so she and the other one are lucky. She said they are splitting up Christmas and New Years this year...half the ship will have Christmas off and the other will have New Years off...oh well better than not at all. How did you survive the deployment??? Robin

Robin, Do you get to see her often? Alan is in WA, he was home on leave in August after deployment. They have been out since then for short training. I'm hoping he'll be home for Christmas. He's doing great, although he's mess cranking. He was in the scullery but they moved him - dishpan hands! Hah, hah. I told him I would send him some yellow dishgloves. He just got a barracks so he's pretty excited to move off the ship.

OK ya all its been two months since anyone posted any news or updates....where did you go????
Ali is in Mayport Fl onboard the USS The Sullivans, a destroyer...she seems to like it...but is really tired of scrapping paint!!! hahahaha! What are your loved ones up to?? Miss you guys ...Robin

Congratulations on your new DIL to be. Yes, I have new pictures up from when he was home on leave. I'm going to get some tiger cruise pictures up this weekend. There are so many I have to pick through them!

Becky ~ That's awesome! How great that would be. I'd say you are both blessed!

Vickie ~ Ally said yes. Everything is hush, hush, secret so it's hard for me to get excited. Morgan was born 2 days before my 26th birthday, so there's still a chance for your daughters to make you a grandma...soon. Do you have new pictures up?
