Cindy, That is cool that you are able to be the "family" for your daughter's friend.

Kerri, It is hard to see them blow their money but I am trying to let him alone to be an "adult". It was really hard when he waited till the last minute to get his tickets and as a result he ended up spending an extra $100 over the prices that I found just a week earlier. Oh well, some of us learn the hard way.

Hi everyone. Good to hear of kids coming home for Christmas. Mine is due home Dec. 19th for 2 weeks. He is counting the days down. He is almost done with his AA degree. He is in NATTC and is A2E. After break he will start his A school for air traffic controller (prayerfully and hopefully). Good to hear everyone is still keeping in touch.
Pam: I can relate on the money issue. My son also is spending almost as fast as he makes it. Sure wish maturity would catch up with his age. lol.

Pam-that would be nice. I think they deserve a break!!! Thats just my feelings. My daughter is bringing home a friend (guy) he'll be staying with us. His dad is in the Navy and is deployed to Afganitstan. He has seen quite a bit of the world already but has never seen the west coast. We will be his guide we are looking forward to it:)

I read somewhere that if they wear their uniforms when they check in at the airport that some of the airlines won't make them pay for their checked baggage.

Ouch is right. Its exspensive. Plus the ticket to get to the airport, then probably paying for luggage on the flight and then money to get back when they get home...its not cheap...but sure happy that'll they'll be home... and my daughter will turn 19 while she's home :) Yea!!
Sorry about the holds. It sure isn't any fun. They are ready to get out to the fleets and do their jobs....

Dustin has graduated from NACCS (air crew candidate school) and is now on hold AGAIN. He doesn't like that very much but it is what it is. He is coming home for Christmas and purchased his ticket last night - Yes! Ouch - it was a painful price!

Pam i sure hope he buys those tickets and comes home to see the family. School of hard knocks nobody likes that :( You know they (Navy) gave financial courses and advice ....right!!? I hope you get good news :)
