Navy For Moms

Hi everyone.  I'm looking for anyone who has a sailor in Ship 12, Division 266.  I understand that this is a co-ed division.  I'd like to connect with you!

Hi Sharon, yes, my son Matt is in Ship 12/Div 266. Have you heard anything from him yet? we got a phone call on Father's Day and haven't heard anything since. My son is happy and loving it. He is really having a great time. He said it isn't as hard as he thought and nothing that he expected it to be. There is a forum here for PIR 8/6/10 also. We have obtained our flights/hotels etc... Can't wait for PIR. How about you?
Daryl(Matt's mom
Hi Daryl. My son Jeff is one of the "sticks"... he gets to carry the flag. I've only heard from him by phone on Father's Day but he seemed really happy. I definately believe he made the right choice! Hope we get letters soon and yes we have all our flights/hotel/rental car lined up. Another discussion mentions putting together something distinctive so our sailors can find us in the crowd...any ideas?
Sharon
Hi Sharon,I thought I may get a letter today, no such luck. I am missing him so much today, don't know what it is, just a sad/tearful day. Hope I feel better tomorrow. My son is platoon leader, leading the marching and callling out cadence. He is getting "hoarse" so he said. He is loving it also. I know he made a good choice in joining, I am so proud of him. I am wondering what would be distinctive so he can find us in the crowd. I think it will be a madhouse and very confusing that day, but, we will find each other some how. Let me know if you hear anything specific or fun to identify ourselves.
Daryl
Daryl, Got my letter yesterday (Thurs) and my son mentions yours. He also said that most of them have sniffles & sore throats because of a bug going around. Hope you get your letter today. I think I am going to try an find a distinctive had to wear after ceremonies - maybe hot pink or something like that.
Sharon
I still have not received any mail, he did write to a girl he liked before leaving for bc, she is a friend of my daughters. oh well, I guess girls come before good ol' mom. ha ha
Daryl, Sorry to hear you don't have top billing for letters home. I'm hopeful that you will get the next one. My son last wrote that he thought they would be allowed more time to write and call starting next week.
Sharon
Finally received 2 letters last friday, they were great. He sounds like he is growing up so quickly, such responsibility already, he is Recruit Chief Petty officer, loves it, and is really enjoying meeting all the other recruits. Compares it to a "big boyscout camp" only "harder". LOL.
Hello Sharon, my name is Tina, my daughter Heather is in the same ship12 and div.266 as your son. It is so nice to know that there are others out there that can relate to what's going on with our recruits. Was your son one of the ones that had to have his wisdom teeth pulled the other day? I understand that there were 21 recruits that had to have that done, OUCH!! Have you booked your flight and hotel yet?
Tina
Yes, my son had his wisdom teeth pulled. 3 of them. He said it was so scary, he was wide awake for everything and they numbed him up, but, he was able to hear everything. He had to walk back to his ship about a mile afterwards, realized he forgot to have his pass signed so he could reenter the building, had to walk all the way back get it signed and then back again, 3 miles all totalled. He said at least it was a "nice day for a walk". LOL
He was able to rest and take pain medication. He was much better after a few days. We booked our flights and hotel, staying at the Ramada, the meet and greet will be there. Very excited and looking forward to it, time is actually going faster than I thought it would, only 3 weeks from this Wed. and we will be there. We are going from 8/4- 8/11. We are staying in Downtown Chicago Sat-Wed. the week after PIR, for a mini vacation with my girls. Matt will have a few days with us, and then off to Pensacola on Monday he said.
Hi Matts mom!!! We are also staying at the Ramada. Flying in Thurs with Kyles twin sister. Kyle hasn't called us with his orders yet. When did you get word with Matts orders? Last time we spoke to him he said he would be there through the weekend he thought.
Tina,
I haven't heard if my son had his teeth pulled. Yes, we booked everything a couple of weeks ago and are going to be staying at the Navy Lodge. Where are you staying?
Sharon
Where's the Navy lodge? I'm staying in a "dive" about a half of a mile away from the Naval base (bc) :/ Days Inn. I wanted to be close. Hey, I'm thinking about getting tickets to sixflags for Sat. (would you happen to know if there is any military discounts out there?)
