Liz, She is training for Aviation Aerographers Mate better known as a meterologist. She will be on the first flight available once she graduates and she gets to stay home till 12/29. Just a little frustrated because they don't care about them coming home for leave. Their main focus is to book the flight from point A-B which means they will book from Biloxi to Japan and then once she gets the ticket in hand she has to call and change it and pay what ever the price difference is to come home. I could have gotten a $90 flight one way home and then she could fly out of a major airport on to Japan but was told no she is property of the US goverment now. Oh well at least we get some time prior to her departure for Japan. She is very excited about it. Her grandfather was a 28 year veteran of the Navy and loved Japan.I would much rather her be there than Iraq.

Well our daughter is scheduled to graduate Dec. 10th from A-School in Biloxi, Mississippi. Her next duty station will be Japan for 3 years. Wow mixed emotions about that and not as if I can do anything about it. Chance of a lifetime to travel.

I've been watching the news from Afghanistan, my soldier is scheduled for deployment in Jan 2010. So sorry to hear about your nephew's brother-in-law. Prayers to all the families.

My girl got to her first duty station last week. She won't be going to sea very soon as her ship is in for maintenance.

That's just awful. I'm so sorry to hear that for your family. Praying for his quick recovery. Will he be sent back again after he recovers? I hope not. The amount of attacks that have happened this week alone in Pakistan is just sickening.
My son Chris is still in Pensacola and he just took his big test and failed it on hydraulics, he gets another shot at it though and hopefully will pass. If all goes well, he is scheduled to go to his Duty Stagion in Lemoore, CA after two weeks of liberty. I'm hoping he will be home for his birthday in November.

I am sure you have all heard by now about the shooting on Sat in Afganistan that killed 7 servicemen. Please pray for all of those grieving today and also the injured. My nephew's brother-in-law was drving the Humvee and his Comrad was shot and killed. He lost 7 from his unit due to being taken over by 300 Taliban. He is in the hospital and will be ok. 2nd shooting for him. 1st. was in Iraq. We don't ever know. Pray for our country.

Does anyone know anything about having your sailor sign up for live ashore program while in A-school? My husband does not have written orders just yet but was able to put in for orders and says he will be in Pensacola no longer than 6 months. So we really want to be together and are willing to make the move at our own expense but just want to know what we need to do to get him to live "ashore" so he can come home most nights to us?
