Huge hugs, lots of pictures, 2 meals at Mcdonalds, minutes are ticking by,
Can’t think about the clock, or I for sure would start to cry.
Time for the airport, tons of young men in khakis, with duffles and backpacks,
Waiting to go to where their next phase of life is at.
I just listen to him talk, loving that familiar laugh and the expressions on his face,
Why do the clocks run so fast in this place???
Rylee, Reagan, Rosi, Rustin all wanting time with their brother,
Seeing them all 5 together again such a JOY for this mother.
He looks at the clock, stands, begins grabbing bags…….NO!
Has the time already ended, Can it be time for him to go???
More Hugs & kisses, a prayer together and ‘I love you’s’ ..…so many!
The pain of watching him walk away cannot be compared to any.
1 last wave, be brave, straight face, I have to try,
He told me it’s harder for him when I cry.
This part at the airport, so wonderful, so hard, tears can’t flow!
NO goodbyes! Just say, ‘See you later’ as I watch him go!
I love you Res!
Comment by mama5r-ship 14 Div 343 on October 22, 2012 at 1:19pm I see the one that is Mine (for Res)
I’m finally here, sitting, waiting…… breathe! Watching every face, How can so much anticipation be contained in just one place,
Uniforms all around, Flags hanging with such pride, shoulders back, hands salute, looking eye to eye
The music gets louder and the doors rise up, my heart skips a beat, I look at each face, searching for those eyes, as warm tears down my face streak.
At first I don’t see, they all blend together, but I search each face in every line. Then in a moment I cannot possibly describe……. I see the one that is mine.
Such love fills my heart, blended with pride and longing, you see I have missed that face for a while. I wonder if he’s changed, if he’ll seem different to me after this 8 week trial.
I think of his papaw, how proud he would be. Oh, I wish that he could be here, to see what I see, this tall man in uniform that I can’t believe is finally so near.
As I stare at him I think of this path he has chosen, of the people he’ll meet and the places he’ll go, of the man he is becoming. There are things that cause me fear for him both physical and spiritual, God please be with him wherever he is going.
My prayers all his life, to walk with God, to seek his face and to grow, for God to bless and protect him and always be with him are flowing from me at this time, Then a peace and calm come over me as I hear God gently saying,…….. It’s o.k. I see the one that is MINE!

Bravo, Romisproudmom! It's been 5 years since my son joined - but I know exactly where you are emotionally in this poem.
Comment by RomisproudmomPIR4/27ship07div129 on March 23, 2012 at 6:55pm Three weeks have gone by
Since we told you goodbye
I hugged you so tight I didn’t want to let go
For the next time I would see you, it would be in Chicago
These eighteen years flew by
Right before my eyes
From crawling up and down the stairs in our Beaumont town home
You went to running Track and Cross Country and making choices of your own
From carrying your pillow everywhere with you
You went to driving Rhonda and pulling a trailer too
You started your own landscaping business at the age of sixteen
For Jersey Shore you traded Lion King
You went from a shy little boy that sat on mommas lap
To visiting new places on the United States Map
In a few short weeks is Boot Camp Graduation Day
We are so anxious and excited for this is such an important day
You will march in a sailor and leave the little boy behind
This is the beginning of your new military life
You will have many adventures to write home about
You will be very successful I don’t have any doubt
I want you to know how proud we are of you
Though you traded in your pillow for a camo suit in blue
You will always be my little boy
When the day comes that I see you marching in on Graduation Day
Tears again I may cry
They will not be of sadness but of great pride and joy
Because of the Sailor my little boy has become
For now I am truly a proud Navy mom
Comment by Janice on March 9, 2012 at 2:59pm Chiquitos, it's been a while for me since my daughter has been in the Navy 2 years already (time flew by) but I remember the feeling and I also remember almost knocking down the mailman when he gave me the letter/box!! :) :) :)
