Please keep the victims (and their families) of today's tragic shooting at Ft. Hood, TX in your thoughts and prayers today. I'm in shock and so sad that such a horrific thing could happen. I am thankful that my son (and all of your children) are safe. God bless and good night!

It was just a political opinion and call to action. I realize people are passionate about many things but this isn't the place for political dialogue. So ladies... I'm old Navy mom and I just reacted like an old Navy mom. Hopefully she (if indeed she was who she said she was) wasn't too insulted. I just feel strongly about the mission of this site. - Mom of NROTC graduate of UW and SU class of '97

Ahh... that's better. Just moms and friends commiserating. Navy for moms should just be a nice place for trading stories and getting together.

Yep. You have overstepped. Please remove your remarks ASAP. If they have not been removed in 1 hour I will contact the site administrator for N4M. This is not a place for political dialogue. Use some other social networking site.

my freshman ROTC daughter heard the same message a week ago about women on subs---she is fired up!!! my eldest daughter was commissioned May, 2009 and is surface warfare now---she has always been interested in the possibility of submarines and has said, if women are allowed on subs, she's staying on beyond her obligation. she had some experience as a midshipman on a sub during her summer training after freshman year and thought it was great! she said it was about the best experiences during college and ROTC.

their dad started out in subs but went to Naval Reactors under Rickover and spent his 5 years doing nuclear engineering in D.C. he thinks subs are the way to go. but i think you have to be suited to that setting and that life.

for the person who asked---sub service wasn't forced before, i find it hard to believe it would be now. it was my understanding that it is voluntary.

Haha...Daria, I hope you have a great Thanksgiving. It was a shock to me a couple years ago when they announced a survey said that the most popular family activity on Thanksgiving day was...playing video games! (And we're a big video game family, so I shouldn't have been shocked).

Susan, that's great-isn't it amazing how little things can light us up?
