How strict are they about meeting the requirements? What happens if you fall below the probationary requirements? What else would be infomative that I might not know to ask?

Hi Susan and all~ Glad to hear the news about your son. My son just had 10 days off and he is ready for the next term. (He caught up on much needed sleep) He ended up doing great on his exams so he is finally feeling good about college and the Navy!!! I can sleep now!!! FYI Matt turns 19 on October 30th!!

Susan, it's all baby steps - and if he's anything like my son, that's a rousing cheer of success. If I remember correctly, that four day break is great for the kids to sleep in, catch up, and there are more than a few Halloween parties on campus. Glad you and he are beginning to see a few rays of light. It helps Mom heart a whole lot.

So...I sent David a text asking him if he had a good time at the Navy Ball on Saturday night. His response, 'Yeah, it was more fun than I expected'. I know that might not seem like much, but given the tone of the communication we've had over the past 8 weeks, it is really progress! Small steps, I guess. : )

David has a four day fall break starting on Thursday and his 19th birthday on Halloween. Not sure what he is up to, as he isn't coming home, but I think that a break may be a very good thing right now.

Hi all,
Boston University had their Pass & Review ceremony today. It is awesome to see the Army, Navy & Air Force ROTC students looking their best. It was a glorious sight to see, of course the Navy ROTC looked the best! My son is a senior so that is my last one with a child participating in it. If you have a chance to attend one of these it is definitely on the to do list.

My son states he has the best of both worlds of Navy and college....where else could he go and watch the Phillies win the NLCS on the spur of the moment?

The friendly (?) competition among ROTC units on Mizzou's campus amuses me! Yesterday was the Tri-Service Competition hosted this year by the AFROTC. Here's what my daugher had to say about the results, "We dominated. We beat the air force, then the army, then the air force again, then the army and the air force together. MIDN Marta, the battalion CO, said that today we fulfilled every one of his childhood dreams. GO NAVY!" So much of what is good about NROTC is embodied in the camaraderie and teamwork of the unit and the pride in what they accomplish together. Good stuff!

Just found the link to the new Navy commercial by googling it: To view the Navy's newest recruiting video, "The Calling" visit: http://www.navy.mil/navydata/featurePlay.asp?id=49.

Helomom, I went to the navy.mil site but couldn't find what I think it the new ad. I caught the tail end of something on TV the other night and that may have been it. Once I'm on the site, where do I go to view it?

Thanks!
