Laura, I a sending my daughter her stuff using priority mail boxes, the large box you can put as much as you want and still only pay $14.95. I sent my daughter a box this morning she should get it by Wednesday.

Wednesday?  hmmmm I wonder if they r in same class with a day difference.  Would they have different classes starting every few days?  What is his class number?

My son called on Saturday from SA and said that he is to start classes on Wednesday. I was able to get his address so I can send his laptop, cell phone, and some civilian clothes UPS this week.

Son arrived in SA on Friday about 2:00 AM thanks to all the weather delays in GL's!  He said the barracks he is in his new and really nice. His roommate is a fleet returney and he has meet some of his classmates. Most are straight  out of Boot.   Class starts Tuesday,, YEAH!   Is anyone on here with a Sailor starting on Tuesday as well???

Nycnative, thank you for responding to my post in the 0415 PIR group. You were right they were going thru their processing the first few days. Our son called yesterday and actually had some down time to talk. Sounded really tired but much happier than the 1st call I received from BC. Again thanks so much.

mamawalrus, it really depends on the orders that are available when your son picks.  My son choose Okinawa with the Marines, so if they are going to be stationed with Marines..they must go through FMTB.  Some choose C-school then a clininc assignment.  Some choose directly to a naval base hospital and don't go through FMTB, although the expectation is they will go through it as some point in their corpsman career.  Bottom line, the orders that will be available are determined by the needs of the Navy but the higher up in the class they are (GPA) the more orders there will be to choose from.

So is the FMTB a choice ? I understood C school's were very few and usually those get picked by the top GPA, so if you do not go to C school,, do they tell you where you are going to go and being with the Marines is that usually something they get?
